Thread: Down to go to a local theme park? ~ Testing the Waters ~

Hey all...

Testing the waters to see who's interested in spending the day at a local theme park. I can get discount tix for Marine World or Great America... and if we get a group of 15 or more, group rates apply which could be up to a 50% discount on ticket prices. This is not going to be a regular car meet, because the important thing on this one is just getting people together, not what they show up in. I know some people cringe at the thought of having their cars out in the parking lot unattended all day, so show up in a beater you borrowed from your parents or something... we don't care... just as long as you show.

Sun. July 31
Sat. Aug 7
Sun. Aug 8
Sat. Aug 13
Sun. Aug 14
Sat. Aug 20
Sun. Aug 21
Sat. Aug 27
Sun. Aug 28
Mon. Sept 5

Are you interested?? If so, pick one of the dates that would be good for you... If there's a good response I'll look into the group rates and whatnot.

Sounds fun but the last combined meet that Sac DSM went to (Pizza hut way back in the day) was a fluke and no one from Norcal showed up. Would the group rate be a pre-paid thing or do we pay based on how many people show rather than how many people say they're going to?

We would pay based on how many people are actually going to make it. If it turns out that most people are just going to flake, then we go with the discount coupons instead of the group rate. It's not bad... with the coupon you can still save about 40%. It's just with the group deal you save a little more. I've put the word out on a few sites and so far, I've gotten about 8 positive replies. I'm going to give it a little time though... see exactly which weekend people want. We'll see...

Hey all,

I've pretty much got my eye on Saturday, September 10th at Marine
World for this event. Now all I need is a confirmed list of people
who are going to show. If you think you might flake or if you might
have to work or something, please don't say you'll definitely be
there. Reminder, I have to have a minimum of 15 people to get the
50% discount on admission... if we have more than that, we still get
the discount.

Also, a buddy of mine used to work at Marine World and is still tight
with the parking manager. He says he can get us free or at least
discounted parking. Again, I know some of us cringe at the thought
of leaving our rides unattended in a parking lot all day, so borrow a
beater from someone... no one cares what you show up in for this
meet, as long as you're there.
