Thread: Rough noise, almost grinding, need help!!

As the title says, I am having a rough, almost like a grinding noise only when I try to maintain speed. If I accelerate hard or coast the noise goes away. This has been going on for about 1 week and it was after I changed my oil to synthetic. The noise also seems to be coming from around the fuel rail area but I could be wrong. The rough noise will only happen after the engine is warmed up and will even do it if I rev in neutral. Any help would help a lot.
Well hope that is enough info and if not I will try to answer more. I would really like to get this fixed because I don't like to hear my baby sound like this.

To vauge of a discription to really say. Start with the easy stuff and see if your PCV valve is going out. When they do, it sounds like a bag of pebbles dancing in the head or sometimes like electricity shorting out around the fuelrail/injectors. You can test it simply by disconnecting the hose on the valve cover side and caping shut with something like a bolt or screw. Drive around and see if it helps.

It could also be your throwout bearing, but that would sound like its coming from your transmission or block. If you put the clutch in and the noise goes away, its your throwout bearing.

check your crank pulley. also it could be your a/c compressor bearing going out.
