    Default let me hijack this.......

As a matter of fact, Im going thru this same problem right now....I just completed an engine swap on a 1990 Mitsubishi Galant GS with the 4g63 dohc 2.0.....

The idle will hang up there at around 1500 rpm's and then almost die instantly.....then catch itself up and hang at 1500 rpms again.

Some things that have worked for me in the past have been......

corrosion on the battery terminals, replaced battery terminals
added another ground wire from the throttle body to the firewall
    adjusted the throttle cable
adjusted the BISS, and grounded the pin on the diagnostic port also
took out egr valve and cleaned it out with carb cleaner
small leak in the vaccum lines, found it with a boost leak test
    BIG PLANS.....STAY TUNED.....

so a couple days ago i went for a long drive. got the car hot enough to where the idle started to hang, pulled over, took my wrench and 12mm head out, just loosened the bolts, and the throttle cable snapped over and idle dropped to 800. i then tightened the bolts and all is well.

and today i flushed the rad, added watter wetter, new coolant(its a 50/50 premix, oh well, didnt feel like holding the hose and pouring the coolant in at the same time), 180* tstat and new cap.

at idle the temp never got over 210.

at 80 the temp was around 195-200. i was drafting a big rig and it started to rise, so i pulled out into the airflow and it went back down.

at a WOT 2nd-4th pull, towards 120ish the temp got to 213, but as soon as i let off and coasted down to 70ish it went down to 190.

now im just waiting for my new boost gauge to get in, then all the little annoying things will be no more, and shell feel like a normal car again.

i even gave her a bath tonight and took the rims off and polished them inside and out. then cleaned the interior with orange blast, then armor all'd the enclosure.
