Default Possible180 Deg off at the crank

I am hearing two sides of this.. some people are telling me that I might be 180 degs off at the crank.. and other are telling me that its not even possible.

I'm speculating here, so don't take my word as truth, but, if the crank was 180 out, wouldn't it be putting the pistons at top dead center when they should be at bottom dead center... if this were the case, then you would have some really messed up valves... Now I'm thinking the cams could be 180 out, because for every rotation of the cams, the crank rotates twice, yes? So, that being the case, the cams would be lined up with the crank, but on the wrong part of the stroke, exhaust versus compression... I don't even know that that would be feasable though, as there's a crank angle sensor and cam angle sensor, so the computer would still know when to fire appropriately...

Without having a looking at, I don't have the slightest idea what could be wrong... you've verified both fuel and spark... have you checked compression? Are all your sensors hooked up properly and in working order? (the car ran before the timing belt swap, right?)

Yup.. car ran fine before the swap besides the nasty sound it was making due to a seperating crank pulley..which is now in two pieces.. fell apart right when I unbolted it off from the block. Have not tested compression yet.. need to get ahold of one, Manny offered his, but haven't had time to pick it up. I've been thinkin along the same lines as you have been. IF that is the case.. and my valves decided to "kiss" the pistons.. ima have to go ahead and part it out. I am hoping, *crosses fingers*, that its not that bad tho.. since the car hasn't ran in this state

Hehe.. unless someone has a good conditioned head they can part with for a good price..
