Thread: leak between the tranny and transfer case

Ok i have a leak between the tranny and the transfer case. Ive replaced this seal 3 times now and its leaking still. Any ideas? First time fixed it didnt leak for a couple weeks and then all of the fluids leaked out in a hour or so. Very big puddel around the car. The secound time stay sealed for a couple weeks and then leakes about soft ball size puddel every day. This time it started leaking once agine. Whats goin on here? 90 eclipse gsx

Ok, here is what I recommend. It might cost you a couple bucks, but you'll be able to see what is exactly leaking, the t-case or the tranny.

Get some Royal Purple 75w-90 GL4 fluid, empty your old fluid, and put it in your transfer case. This fluid has a purple tint to it.

Get some Redline MTL, or MT-90, or mix half and half, drain your old fluid and fill your trans with the Redline. The Redline has a slight red tint to it.

Drive your car around a bit, let the trans and t-case warm up.

Come back home and park your car on a level spot. Put an old white bed sheet under your car under the trans and t-case.

A couple hours later, or the next day, take out the sheet and see what color the fluid on the sheet is.

If it's purple, its the t-case, if it has a red tint to it, its your tranny. The t-case kinda covers the drivers side axle and seal. You couple be leaking from there.

thanks for the help. but it is leaking from the tranny side. i gotta add to the tranny every week or so
