    Default Weird Clutch Issue....

Weird Clutch issue on my white 92 awd. There's an ACT 2600 in there and a new Mitsubishi TOB...maybe about 6K miles on both.

When first installed, it was great. First the slave went out, then the master went out. Both replaced with OEM parts. A few weeks ago my sister mentioned that it was getting hard to get into gears. I came back from Mexico and noticed that even if the clutch pedal was all the way to the floor, the car was hard to get into 1st gear, it would grind.

The slave rod moves correctly, but the pedal seems really weird. On my red 92 AWD, you can feel a big difference, more like a normal clutch, you know, easy, then hard, then easy. On my white AWD, its one whole spongy feel. It disengages right off the floor, the Master Cylinder rod is turned all the way out to its last threads. Not any noticeable clutch pedal play.

I don't really feel like dropping the tranny right now just for fun. Are there any things I can check first while everything is still intact?

I'd be glad to drive it to someone who knows what they are doing. I'll compensate you for your time also. I just haven't really had tons and tons of experience with clutch issues before.

Hold the clutch pedal to the floor and have someone watch the and see if it stays solid or if slowly moves back under the pressure of the pressure plate. If it does you probably have a leak.

You also could have air in the lines, you could try to bleed them again, alot of people swear by the speed bleeders.

Also i have heard the clutch fork can bend or break with a heavier clutch. alot of people shim the pivot ball for the fork as well.

Personally i have an act 2600 as well and new master / slave cylinders (Master is also out to last threads) my pivot ball is shimmed and my lower clutch switch is removed. and mine barely disengages at the floor

WHOA! Yours also disengages off of the floor?

It's kinda hard for me to check all of this out by myself.
I can't bleed it by myself....

The pivot ball is shimmed as well.

Can you and Ben help me out? I'll compensate you both.

About 1 inch up off the floor mine starts to get bite,,, but all the way to the floor im fully disengaged.

Bring it to the track next wed's johnathan is probably going to be driving my car, I can take a look at it real quick, Ben probably knows more about it though..

Also reach down and see if you can pull up on your clutch if it comes up any at all if it does your clutch pedal assy is screwed, You will have to replace it, and it is probably the hardest most frustrating thing you will ever do on your car,,,, no i will not help with that,,, even with the dash out completely it is a huge pain in the A$$. but on the bright side the parts are cheap :)

Isn't it better to just weld the clutch pedal assembly all together?

**Update** As soon as I hit the clutch in all the way to the floor, and try to put it in 3rd gear, it wont let me put it in 3rd but the RPM's do drop by about 200 while this is happening.

I just checked out the Clutch pedal assembly and after I let go of the clutch, it appears to have almost an inch of play.

After the clutch pedal returns, I can still lift it almost another inch or so.

    Damn sucks to be you!

thats your problem your clutch isnt fully disengaging causing shifting problems,,, you will screw up your tranny if you keep driving it like that!

call these guys, they have great prices on new oem stuff,

    http://www.jnztuning.com/

If you want to weld it thats fine but weld the new one otherwise you will not get good alignment,

I dont remember how much i paid but it wasnt that much for the full clutch pedal assy (2 peices) and the bushings
