So long story short.. State ref.. bla bla.. Smog.. Bla..
Fails gross poluter style.. neat.. over 300 on the hydrocarbon readings..
So i went over the shit with a fine tooth and comb.. Bad Maf.. Timing problems (Wont get into that but its fixed..) Replaced the EGR....
Take it to a local test station for a pre-test..
Gross poluter style at idle.. 351 on the hydrocarbons.. (140 limit)
Passes on the 2500 test.. at 77 which the avarage is around 20 .. so even thats high..
Then i did a compression test :(
4-1
145 - 155 - 120 - 140
Dropped some oil in #2 and it went up to 165 so its rings
:(
So anyone thinking that cylinder #2 could cause that bad of a failure or should I keep looking?
I only ask because i dont typically try to smog cars with one bad cylinder.. Soo.. No idea..
The cat is off of Jason's car and looks gnarly.. Not stock tho.. its a 2.5 catco
But with 351 on the idle hydrocarbons it cant only be a cat.. Shit it would get lower than that if it were running right WITHOUT a cat..
