    Default Jeep GC Starting Problem...

    So yeah here's the issue....

It's my GF's 00 Jeep Grand Cherokee and its acting up. Back in December it would have to turned on and off 3 or 4 times before I would go to start it for it to start. After doing that for like a week it didn't act up anymore. hmmm

This morning it wouldn't start.... it was making the imfamous starter clicking sound which made me think "oh ok... it's the starter for sure". So tonight just for shits and giggles I try to jump it to see if it could be the battery just in case. So after letting it charge for a min or two I go to attempt to start the Jeep. It starts cranking as if it was about to start but was no longer making the starter clicking sound. I let it charge for another minute then go to start it again. I give it alittle gas and it starts right up. But while running if I let the throttle go it would die out. So I ran it with the thottle at around 2k for a couple minutes and let it die. I immediately go to start it up and BAM...it starts with no problems. Idled fine... no need for there to be given gas to keep it running. I drive it around for 5-10 minutes with no problem. Come back to the house and shut it off. I goto start it up again to see if it would start and once again... it starts.

    Any thoughts?

    Battery not holding charge?
    Starter going out?
The 2.4 is done....Now just need to tune the shit out of it

    BATTERY OR ALTERNATOR

do a load test on the battery, then a charge test on the alt.

and if the alt is not charging ALWAYS check the fuse before you change the alternator

my vote is battery, if it wouldn't start and then after jumping it, and getting it running it started fine, sounds like the charging system works, just isn't holding it... of course, the bad battery could have overworked the alternator, and then took it out too... but especially when it gets cold out, batteries are suspect to just not being able to hold enough power for the starter and all the other electrical in the car...
