Ok, so I got my new clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder today and went and pulled the boot off the fork area and looked inside.

It looks like the fork is rubbing against the pressure plate and its way over toward the drivers side, I don't think it can go any farther than it is. What would cause it to move over this far? Crankwalk =(?

Anyway, I'm going to remove/replace the master/slave cylinder now and see what happens. If that doesnt' fix it I'll start dropping the tranny....school starts next week too. bleh.

couldn't say until you saw inside the tranny. you should be able to pull the boot to the side and shine a flashlight in and look around.
i'm almost certain that it's either the TO bearing or the clutch install itself.

    Quick question...

Should I be able to move the fork around at all once I unbolt the slave cylinder? If not, where should it be in the middle of the little window. Right now mine is all the way to the drivers side (causing it to rub on the pressure plate).

The Throw out bearing should be between the pressure plate and the clutch fork preventing it from hitting the pressure plate.. Either your tob is wasted or your clutch fork is broken.. Money is on the clutch fork.. They break quite easily.. Especially if their old and you toss in a nice new stiff aftermarket clutch.. oh say like an act.. Moral of the story is for 11 dollars from mitsubishi you can replace that fork with a new updated style one thats beefier.. always do that if the fork is old and your putting a new clutch in..

And yes the fork moves freely on one axis when the Slave cylinder is no longer applying any pressure to it.. but it should only move along one axis.. Towards and away from the motor.. but if it can touch the pressure plate something is definitely broken.. Like i said.. the tob is Physically between the pp and the fork..

The fork was brand new when I did the clutch install a little over a year ago.

Yeah I can't move the fork around at all so something is messed up in there I guess. The hydraulics can move it though when I press the clutch. I'll let you guys know what I find. Thanks for the info everyone.

Well I think I figured out what teh problem was. I just got done pulling the transmission a few minutes ago and was messing around with the shift fork and noticed it was really loose and the TOB would get stuck when sliding back. I popped it off and the fulcrum ball had backed itself almost all the way out. Then the cuss words flew....anyway, I guess I'll locktite that bitch in there and see if it stays in this time. I've never heard of this happening to anyone, and I torqued it to specs when I installed it so who knows. At least its a cheap fix. The pressure plate isn't too messed up from the fork rubbing on it and neither is the fork so hopefully I won't find anything else and all I'll lose is a little time (who needs time when your taking Chem and Calculus? Who?).

Thanks for the ideas again guys, and now we have something else to add to the little list of possible answers when someone else has this problem.
