    Default retread unlimited "green" tires

I just bought a set of 245/55/17 retread green tires form www.retreadsunlimited.com for $220 shipped I requested them that i wanted a drag radial dot like tire and they recomended me to the green compound. my first impression when got them was that they look decent! but when i dig in with my nail into the rubber they where just as soft as the bfg drag radials! so not bad at all.

so now to the test... well as soon as i slaped it on and went down the block of the tire shop. i stop and launched my car a 4k... and that sucker bog big time. usually with out the new tires ill just burn out big time . so now i decided to go and launch 5k. but this time as soon as i hit boost it grips but i hit whee spin + hop. so i decided to check the tire press because i know that these damn tire shop always shoot 35+ psi into it. and yes it was at 40psi. so i decided to drop it down to 20psi. dont ask me why but i used to have some ntto 555r drag and 20 psi was my sweet spot. now this time it was whole different story at a 5k lauch
ill chirp out of first and as soon as my rpm falls from 5k to 3k from the launch. my car picks right up at 3k and goes into boost, then i get lil screech from the tires trying to hold on all the way till 5.5 k and then its "TRACTION! BABY!" all the way to redlne.

these are great tires for a great price. campare to the bfg, nitto, and mickys that will put a hole in your wallet..

As for ratings on these tires i give it 2 thumbs for its ability to perform like the champs. and 2 toes up for the price.

I wonder how much they weigh, I heard retreads weigh a ton. What wheels are you running them on? Sounds like a nice tire for those of us who hit the track only a couple times a year.

im running them on stock 03 eclipse 17" rims. i dont really see a difference in wheigt at all they felt the same as my worn out nittos. well if your just usiing it for the track they also can design you a pair of real drag slicks. i belive 15" rims for about $59 dollars ea. i think im not really sure but you can call them up. i would of got some slicks. but i hardly ever see the tracks. so i got streets slicks just incase i roll up next to a lancer or sti.

I won't run slicks unless I get an LSD so a drag radial would be just fine. Something I don't have to heat up.

    I would feel a bit wary taking a RE-TREADED tire over 100mph...

Just me though, you have a tire come appart at 150 its game over.
