Thread: ROAD RACE ENGINEERING!!! Their parts are so great!!!

So back in the day, about a year ago I ordred upper intercooler pipes from RRE. They got to me and had holes in the welds! WTF! They fixed the problem but it still sucked ass.

I bought RREs 16G install kit like a year ago when I thought they were great. The other day I read that someone had a SBR turbo-manifold SS gasket expand destroying their turbo bolts. I thought, "dang, I'm lucky I have the RRE gasket". Yeah right, SBR uses RREs gaskets in their kits too.

Today I go out and decide to swap on a buschur manifold I had laying around and go to pull my manifold off. All 4 bolts break!!! I wasn't upset but started feeling like an idiot like maybe I didn't use anti-sieze or tq them down right a few months ago when I had the head off which I did, no doubt. Come to find out the good ol stainless steal super thick manifold-turbo gasket RRE sells expanded and warped into a nice big oval, effectivally driving itself into all 4 turbo-manifold bolts and causing them to snap when I went to pull them off.

After 2 15 min phone calls and a lot of arguing the guy finally said, "I'll just send you new bolts and a stock gasket since my SS gasket will do the same thing"

Down times sucks but my real concern is getting those damn pieces out of the turbo.

Damn it.. I have the same gasket mang..

That's funny(not really) as i just ordered that same piece from them about 2 days ago, per your recommendation. Oh well, once that turbo goes on, it aint comin off.

I specifically told you not to but that kit, remember? I told you to but the individual gaskets.

that gasket looks too THIN!

the ones I use are almost a 1/4" inch thick and they never have done that

I had SPD make mine, they also just finished nice cnc stainless and mild steel exhaust manifold flanges for the 4g63 and 6g72 engines!

RRE sent me a monster 3" exhaust flange within a couple of days so I could finish my turboback by raceday. RRE is great, if you need something to do it yourself, check with them first.
