Thread: Belt Issue

    Default Belt Issue

Ok So I got alot of advice from my previous post about a coolant problem. I took the advice and put a new head gasket in cause everyine was right I had a bad head gasket. In the proscess of course I took my timing cover and timing belt off. After I took the timing cover off I found that there is a belt that goes from the Silent shaft sproket to the crankshaft sproket, the belt wasn't there. I'm not sure if it was there or not when I drove it all the way here from Spokane, WA cause when I took off the timing belt cover there was no broken or loose belts anywhere. I bought the right belt but now I cant get it on there. The gap between the crankshaft srocket and the housing is not wide enough to slide it in there. I thought about lossening the crankshaft sproket and pulling it out a little but it wont loosen because the sprocket just turns. If you need to see pics so you can see what I am talking about then write me with your email addy and I will send pics. I hope you have some ideas.

Impact wrench.. Make sure you follow the proper proceedure getting that timing belt installed and getting the balance shaft lined up and in phase.

If you had a blown head gasket, did you check your head to make sure it was still flat? Did you have anything resurfaced or did you just slap another gasket in there?
