    Default I'm baaack!! with a new project.

    Well Some may remember me and some may not.Here is the story... I sold my modded 90 laser rs turbo awhile back, got into HONDAS again.. Wanted a DSM like a crack fiend, so I tried to trade my sport bike for one, was talked out of it.. Then luck struck me recently..

    3 years ago I met a OLD guy with a car I wanted he was the original owner... I told him If he ever wanted to sell it to call me, I gave him my number.. well 3 years later HE CALLS ME!! he want's to sell it. I go check it out in ELK GROVE and laid the cash down and picked it up and drover her home..

    I picked up a 1991 GALANT VR4, Belize green..from original owner, for $200.. yes $200

    It has many new parts, motor,in/out harnesses,ecu,all sensors,turbo etc.. all paperwork/maintenence records since bought. The paint is faded on the hood,roof,and trunk as usual. body is good with minor door dings here and there.. Interior is clean but the back leather cracked at the top seams due to sun..EVERYTHING works, even ice cold a/c.

    The problems are it makes a nasty noise like input shaft bearing?center diff?, metal to metal grinding when driven(has yet to be diagnosed), But in all the paperwork i looked over, besides clutch, there are no mentions of driveline R&R. I will replace the whole drivetrain up to the rearend, as a preventative precaution..

    I already bought a (used/good) tranny,tranfer case until I get the vr-4 unit race rebuilt ..will be ordering all the carrier bearings/bushings,u-joints,yoke kit , tranny seals,tranfer case seal this week. along with lightened flywheel and ACT 2600.

    Plans after the preventative maintenance will immediately include
    evoIII MANIFOLD
    eVOIII o2
    3" TURBOBACK
    evo8- fmic

    WHAT SUCKS IS,I most likely have to pay for all the driveline stuff to get done (due to a severe back injury I incurred ) but I can do the simpleton stuff .. LOL

    Hopefully you guys still have meets and hopefully I can attend one in the Galant.

    Sick! If I could find a worthy VR4, I'd pay a lot more than $200 !! Good find, keep us posted on the progress.

    U LUCKY SOB!!! I woulda been on that deal with the quickness. Goodluck with that project. As we all know DSM = PROBLEMS.

    Update::

    I did the whole drivetrain R&R..

    New 23 spline transmission,new trasfercase (built race \transmission will be sent out this month)

    New flywheel , dual friction centerforce,new axles,new yolk,new rear transfer case seal plus axle seals,all new u-joints and c clips, new carrier bearings,new clutch master cylinder,new clutch slave cylinder,new Steel braided 2G clutch line,symborski shifter bushings.new valve cover gaskets and all plug seals..Also bought a palmIIIc color logger .. filled it with synchromesh and redline in transfer case..

    The car runs like a dream no shimmies shakes or vibrations at all..

    I have since gotten a EVOIII o2,EVOIII manifold,I will be purchasing a go fast bits diverter BOV,a front mount intercooler setup (most likely a evo8 setup) with 2.5" pipes,full 3" from my buddy (he owns a muffler shop)..

    Good job man! Where did you get your U joints? I bought mine from a dealer they were $75 each

    wow.. I PAID $240 FOR 2 CARRIER BEARINGS AND 3 U-JOINTS 2 AXLE SEALS shipped to my door.. I bought them from JNZTUNING.com.. All OEM mitsubishi parts.. Its cheaper to buy 3 yoke recall kits and get the u-joints from the recall kits.. I think Its like $27?? (I cant remember )a piece for the recall kit with u-joint.. The guys there Josh and ERIC are GREAT and they know their shit!!!

    The dealer quoted me $600 for these parts...

    All this was a breeze with air tools , 60 gallon compressor, and the right parts..

    The most time consuming would have to be the driveshaft rebuild.. The u-joints and carrier bearings were time consuming. as I had to hit the new ones out of the yolk..hit the old ones out.then hit the new ones back in.. Its more work but its wayy cheaper.. I have time.. Money is what I don't have lol..

    Car is running great now..I drive it daily

    I have and awaiting install are

    EVOIII O2
    EVOIII manifold
    Autometer carbon boost
    autometer carbon water temp
    K&N
    greddy turbo timer & harness
    new infinity 6.5" rear deck speakers and POLK 4" front dash speakers.
    New front leather seats OEM..

    Still trying to get:
    MBC
    air fuel meter

    Its coming along slowly but surely.. It will get painted this summer for sure.
