Default conversion research time again...RS to GSX, all thats left.

So I finally located a place to referee my RS for smog as a GSX. Now I'm looking at the conversion. Don't ask me why, you should know by now that I like car projects. I'm not going to just go buy a gsx instead.

I'm having some trouble finding info on converting 2g RS/GS into GSX when it comes to the awd and engine swap. I realize that I will probably need custom engine mounting. I know about the obvious stuff like the 4g63t, the tranny. i have done the gsx brake conversion, including swapping the knuckles. I'm not in a rush because I want to pick up and build a 4g63 motor first, and spend a lot of time learning about this setup. I figure in a year from now I will begin the actual conversion process, but I need information. Sooner is better. I'm crazy, I know it.

Does anyone have a link or some information for me?

okay so this is what i think i need so far ::

4g63 6bolt engine with turbo setup (of course)
    awd tranny
    awd transfer case
    front axles
    drive shaft
    exhaust
    fuel tank and shield
    rear axles
    rear differential
    awd flywheel
awd fuel tank connectors (fuel pump sender/connectors, driver side and passenger)
    exhaust brackets

also i someone mentioned to me something about needing the awd subframe and bolts?

please feel free to give advice, comments, add to the list and all. i'm all eyes and ears. if you can hook me up with any of the parts i need, i'm also listening.

Yea, pick up a complete car with a blown motor (wow hard one huh.. )

If I sold you part by part it would run almost 4500-5500 for EVERYTHING

Normally I would just say sell it but you have the gust-o

I would also throw you this little morsel, if you are going to go that crazy why not spend another 5k and make it EVO 8 AWD stuff...

I meant think about it, EVO 4g and the 420a turd are on the same side of the engine compartment, less fab work needed there.....

Heck even that's making my mouse trip up on its wheel!!

Wow, with all the money you would have spent, it probably would be better just to sell your RS and get a gsx. The cost of fab work to fit a 6bolt into a n/a engine bay will be about the same as an evo4-9 4g63 engine. Custom bolting a awd rear subframe, custom mountpoints for the drive shaft, then an aftermarket fuel cel. Sounds like its more money/time then it's worth...for a 2g none the less. Then there's the issue of smog (if your still in CA?). With all the time and money you dumped into a 6bolt awd RS, or a 4g63 evo4-9 engine awd RS, you could have sold your car, picked up a 95-96 gsx, dropped a fully built 2.4 or 2.1 motor with a nice fat turbo fully supported. It wouldn't be that unique (if thats what you're going for) since awd turbo dsms are everywhere.

Another option would be to maybe keep your RS and pick up a Mirage for 1000. Turn it into a Evo 5 with all the money your thinking of investing. Unique. Fast. And better looking then the 2g.

Just my .02 as it is your project. Good luck either way bro.
