honestly its a matter of opinion on your part, yes you can just put it on the turbo
alot of people still use an intake pipe for 1-2 degree cooler (before turbo) temps
for me personally i would go with filter on the turbo

If you've ever seen a turbo or collector glow red on the dyno, you'll probably realize you don't want your intake air coming from that area of the engine.
