last time i was in court there was a kid in there that got a ticket for modified exhaust on a bone stock evo. if you drive any import thats modified or looks modified expect to be harassed by the nazis.

You're only explination needed: Out of state military. Doesn't matter what matches what, just matters where you enlisted originally in the military. As for everyone else... don't try it :DOriginally Posted by EuroEclipse

i tried that :) didn't work. apparently Travis AFB had to sign an agreement with Fairfield police stating that if we have a CA license, we must have CA plates. also, if we have an out of state license it must be valid. i.e. not expired even with military exempt.Originally Posted by 98spydert
as far as dsmaster's question: if you buy any DSM here in CA, you won't have any issues as long as you abide by CA law. meaning, if they can't tell that it's aftermarket... then you're fine. thermal exhaust systems are produced here in CA and are certified by the BAR to meet dB requirements as long as it's just the catback. a 16g is a MHI product and was also a factory upgrade for the dsm's. (1g's... but who's paying attention?)
you can still have a low 13/high 12 second car here in CA even with restrictions.
if you buy an Evo, WORKS does reflashes that are covered under warranty through WORKS and are hidden to Mitsu because it runs fine with their software.
catbacks are not illegal as long as they meet smog and dB requirements.
Evo IX + exhaust + reflash + fuel pump = pretty damn fast for a street car. the only thing will be that you have to change your fuel pump before you go smog and bring it to WORKS to have them update the flash for the OEM pump. (free)

But assuming you didn't enlist in CA and you're not stupid enough to register your car there when you don't have to, you can just renue your DL and tabs by mail to your home state for your stay as active duty. CA and any other state I've been in while active doesn't require out of state mil to register, even while living off base or whatever. But there's a clause saying if you choose to stay in CA after your discharge, you obviously have 90 days to register your vehicle and obtain a CA DL.

ahh yea. you're right. i misread that.Originally Posted by 98spydert
crappy thing is, some states don't let you renew your license by mail, so you have to go to your HOR/POE to renew it. in the mean time, you get a ticket (if you get pulled over) for driving on an expired license depending on the cop and how he's feeling that day. it's BS.
my gf has a CA license because she took her drivers test here in CA to get a license (don't ask me why she didn't do it in her HOR, because i don't know) and therefore CA makes her get CA plates unless she gets a license from her HOR.
i got a ticket one time for driving my GSX with CA plates and an OK license that was expired (military clause). i had to provide paperwork to the courts saying that i'm AD mil and that my HOR wasn't in CA. got out of the ticket, but still had to pay court costs.
