    Default changing my oil

    im changing my oil right now and when i tried putting the screw for the oil pan it wont tighten. it just keeps spinning, but none of the oil it dripping out. im afraid to put oil in it cause it might all come out. sooo what do i do? should i get a new oil pan?

    that or take the pan off and drop it off at a place that welds and have them weld a nut onto the stripped out hole and use a matching bolt with gasket

    So the threads are stripped on the oil pan side? Any way to re thread it?

    im going to the dealership tomorrow morning and prob just getting a new oil pan cause im sure they wont just sell the nut.

    Jack, I have new pans here in stock

    Your cost $80

    and it comes with the drain plug,

    We sell those oil pans like crazy for the 420a

    the pan gasket is reuasable to!!

    I thought every gasket on the car was re-usable!

    Especially the head gasket after 100,000 miles :D

    do you think i can just get the plug? is it hard to install the pan cause ive never tried it and i need it done by sunday.

    If the plug you have now is stripped, it's a good indication that the threads in the pan are FUBAR, and will do the same thing to any other plug you use. You're only option if it is would be to tap the oil pan hole, or just replace the pan all together. Since you have a 420, the only thing I can think of that might be in the pans way is the downpipe and 'maybe' the driver side axle (but you might get away with it installed). Should be pretty simple replacing it.

    as far as the oil pan goes, you'll just have the downpipe and axle like manny said. unhook the support from the block so you have room to move it incase you need to.

    pretty much the only thing in the way is the axle. and some bar hooked to the tranny. hopefully i can get this done by tonight
