Default DSMLink Soon + Turbo so Fuel =?

    Hey guys,

Since my car got broken into I've decided to go the full on performance route with the money I got back from the insurance company. I'm going to be going DSMLink, I just won a bid for an EPROM ECU yesterday and it should be in the mail soon. I'm been thinking over turbo's as well and have come to the conclusion of probably just running an MHI Evo3 16g (though I'm not totally decided) as I'm FWD and don't need too much power. My car is a daily driver and I want to be able to pass smog still without having to remove the turbo if I can and everything else.

I've been trying to decide on what kind of fuel setup I will need. The range of injector upgrades are all about the same price, and some people say with DSMLink just go as big as possible, since price really isn't that different. I don't plan to upgrade any bigger in the near future either, but I want something that can support the Evo3 to its full potential, and will be pretty user friendly in combination with DSMLink.

I've also trying to decide what type of pump I'm going to need. Will the 190 be enough for the Evo3? I've heard that it will not overrun the stock FPR so I wouldn't have to deal with an adjustable one, which is just one more variable for me to screw up, but if a 255 + FPR would be required to get the most out of the Evo3 then thats fine too.

I will be getting a FMIC of some sort. Probably something off ebay with some fabbed up piping.

So give me some recommendations from you guys who've already done this stuff before. This will be my first turbo upgrade so its new territory for me.

    Thanks guys

650 or 720cc, AFPR and 255 to get the most out of your Evo 3.
    Mmmm... boost? Si Si.

660cc or 680cc will be good with the 16g if you're planning on running 91 octane and around 20-21psi. 550's would be good if we had 93octane... but we don't...

the 190 will be good enough. but for the same price you can get any of the other models of the "wailbro". i'd recommend a 255lph just incase you decide to upgrade in the future at some point.
the 255 won't overrun the stock FPR either. i ran a 255 HP and ran rich until i tuned it out and it ran really good. i know more than a few that don't run aftermarket AFPR's and never had a problem.
Although, if you want to be able to better tune the fuel, look into the FTS 2g bolt on AFPR. cheap and very affective.

Go big- with DSMlink bigger is better you can always go small I run 950cc FIC sells this for a nice price 320.oo shiped new. and 680s i can max them out i bet :) just get your hands on some 950,1000, or even the 1600cc DSMlink works wonders. Also the 255 did over run my stock FPR youll need one with a 255lph sorry but its been proven all the time.

With 950s am at 70% DC at 23PSI just some info for ya

Thanks for the replies guys. I will definently be going with the largest cc injectors I can get ahold of for a decent price and will just go with the 255 and an fpr, and then try to learn how to use the damn thing. I am a total newb and this will be my first time tuning all this stuff to work together correctly, but it should be fun (assuming I don't blow it up, but I'm very cautious with new stuff).

Hey THCue, how hard is is to adjust dsmlink to compensate for a different sized injector. I know it will come with defaults for whatever I tell them, but I just want to know in case I decide to change them. I know you have to compensate for deadtime and saw that equation they had on the dsmlink website to adjust, but they say they trial and error works best, but I'm trying to be accurate, hence why not getting an SAFC.

What turbo are you running now? I thought you had a 57 trim...?

I'm still open to different turbos also, just concerned with passing smog and stuff like that. Shouldn't be a problem with the injectors and pump once I adjust them correctly too right?

DSMLink comes with a standard fuel map for the size injectors you are running. When you order, you specify injectors size, idle rpm, "stutterbox"/NLTS rpm limiter

Make sure you email the guys that make DSMLink and they will create a user name/password for you for the forums.
