    Default lost gas mileage

Hello everyone. Just wondering about something.

I recently drove my car to Phoenix and back. everything went ok. nothing broke. but i noticed that when i got back i'm only geting about 19.5-21mpg on my highway/city drives. I use to get 21-23 mpg on the same city/highway routine. I commute from Fairfield to Sacramento State and drive around town for my girl/work/errands etc. What things should i check out, fuel filter? o2 sensor? exhaust leaks? etc. thanks for any advice you guys can give me.

    - Jose

i would stay far away from injector cleaner.I personally don't believe in that stuff. To me it just stirs up all the shit on the bottom of your tank and dumps it to your fuel system.the only way i try that injector cleaner stuff,is if the cars already running all messed up,and you already checked everything else but the injectors, just in case you won't have to pull em,then i give em a shot.sorry, just don't believe in mechanics in a bottle.

    Default really?

speedy13....you might not wanna be so negative about fuel injector cleaners....

myself and everyone i have reccomended RedLine Complete Fuel System Cleaner have all had great success with it.

I can go on and on about the cars it has fixed, improved and helped gas mileage on.

Seafoam and the redline fuel system cleaner got my red 1g awd a lot better gas mileage just those 2 things.....i havent even changed my plug wires ever on that car.

My cousin and myself have tried many additives over the years between the 2 of us....

theres this new oil additive called "XADO" or something that a lot of the 3kgt guys are using with great success, better gas mileage, cleaner oil a lil longer, noticeable power increase, even eliminating lifter tick and phantom knock for them. Its a lil pricey for the 3 step treatment, but well worth it from so many good references i have heard thus far.

Im waiting on a group buy for that new XADO stuff......I have a bunch of friends that are gunna run it in their DD too.
    BIG PLANS.....STAY TUNED.....

    Amsoil power foam intake cleaner

you pull off your ic piping at your throttle body and spray it into your intake,
Use the whole can it will foam up and clean the back of your valves and seats, plus clean your throttle plate.

start your car back you and it will smoke like crazy for a few miniutes

seafoam it, then get new spark plugs, as seafoaming will sometimes foul out the plugs, and its probably time for a tune up anyways. do the plugs AFTER the seafoam process.

its very simple. get a bottle of seafoam from anywhere. then start the car and you can use any vacuum line, but i used my BOV vacuum line, stick that into the can of seafoam. now you want to let the vacuum line sip at the liquid, like you used to do with a straw to piss off your parents at the dinner table. as its sipping, the car will want to die, you need a freind inside the car to keep the gas down(try to keep it between 3-4.5k rpm), unless you have three hands where you can use one to hold the bottle, the second to hold the vacuum line and sip the seafoam, and the third to play with the throttle body linkage.

use up a good 1/2 can of foam, then turn the car off, and let it sit for a good 5 minutes, plug the bov line back in, and start er up. dont be scurred at the massive amounts of smoke coming out of the exhaust, the seafoam takes off all the carbon buildup in the intake, combustion chamber, head, exhaust, whatever, and thats whats going through your motor. which is why it can foul up the plugs.

then take the car for a drive after a few minutes of idling. dont be so gentle, rip on the car to get all that shit out of the motor.

then you can repeat with the other half of the bottle for better results, or you can pour 1/4 bottle into the fuel tank(to clean out the fuel system) and another 1/4 bottle into the oil. but i just use the whole bottle on the motor itself.

then install new NGK plugs, and see how it goes. maybe new filters(oil, fuel, air) and a oil change at the same time(unless you put some foam into the oil, then leave it for a few hundred miles to work its magic).

my buddy BoostedAWD loves teh seafoam. i wasnt too impressed using it on my gst, but he used it on his awd talon and 94 stang 5.0 and lives by it. im going to go my 02 stang gt come springtime with a full tune up, for 5 bucks and 5 minutes of work, i dont see why you wouldnt try it, even if it doesnt feel any different, it cleans everything out, and thats a fact.

Where do you guys go to do the seafoam thing? I'm pretty sure my neighbors will complain if they see lots of smoke coming from my exhaust if it's longer than a couple of minutes.

i found mine i think at napa or autozone.

and fuck your neighbors, tell them if they want to start shit, they better have something better than their fist to finish it. if my neighbors came down and tried telling me to stop, i would, then when i started the car, id pull in front of their house, and reverse into their driveway and emit gobs of carbon caked smoke right into their house for being fucktards.
