    Default Assistance

I finally have a location to work on my car and access to the tools needed.

However I need a hand with some instal stuff as my automotive confidence is still teh suk.

This is what I want to do this weekend if I can get a hand:

    Firewall Fuel Filter Replaced
Filter to Rail Replaced with SBR Kit
    Injectors
Rail to AFPR replaced with SBR Kit
    AFPR to Return etc
    Radiator
    Power Steering Cooler

If I cant get any help depresurizing the fuel system etc I'm going to just replace my power steering cooler and radiator. Any advice on how to flush the PS system and the particular oil to replace it with? :)

Also what saw blade to cut the Steel Lines with. Paul suggested a friction cutter, anyone have an idea on grit etc?

I have a pretty good VFAQ and the entire operation is pretty intuitive from looking at it

Thats only half way to the bay not that bad.

I'll see who else I can drum up around here. Mainly my concern is the Gas, i mean all the fittings etc are straight foreward i just want to make sure I dont blow myself up by not putting a seal right somewhere or some dumb thing.

Thanks Might take you up on it :)

de-presurizing the fuel system??? just throw a rag over the feed line and crack it loose.

P/S Cooler? you doing track days? your car should have a cooling loop infront of the radiator

Yah loop has to go. The FMIC goes in next week and I got a good deal on the aftermarket cooler.

Feed from the Filter or to the filter to depresurize? I'm replacing both so I imagine it dosent matter.

What cutting blade should I get for my table saw to tackle braided steel hose?

How much of what drink do I have to bribe you to come to Northgate area and stupervise? :)

    Thanks

    Euro

It will work fine without a cooler just will kill the oil faster. I figure why stress anything I dont have to, I have room for it next to my air to air oilcooler.

I cant come to Siusun, my Dad is ill so Ill be working on the car at his house to keep an eye on him while I still get to play.

    Thanks for the offer tho!

Fastest way to cut SS lines:

    4" Grinder with a Cut-Off wheel : $17.99-$24.99 at Harbor Freight

Fastest way to depresurize your Fuel System:

Open the gas cap before modifing anything: Free

Once the cap is open, since you have a filter-to-rail replacement, it should be easy to replace. Since your doing inlet-rail-to-outlet replacing, all you have to do is unclamp the hose on the stock fuel pressure regulator, and unbolt the 14mm nut at the bottom of the fuel filter by placing a 17mm line-wrench on top of the filter, holding it in place. Lastly, unbolt the 3 12mm bolts holding down the fuel rail and the whole thing should come up.

When you cut the braided line tape it first so the braid does not fray,

as for a cooler a A/T cooler from a montero is what I am running on my 240, install it on the RETURN line fron the rack back to the resivour

yea crack the line at the top of the filter. be carefull with the line going to the bottom of the filter it is ON THERE!!! and if you do not use a good line wrench you will strip it out!! DOH!

Buy me a plane ticket home and I'll be happy to help :P

This stuff is all pretty simple Seth, I know you can handle it if you just sack up and do it ;)

ESPECIALLY with DSMlink. Once you finish all of your fuel stuff, turn the key to the on position without starting the car then turn on the fuel pump via your laptop and start looking for leaks. That way there's no running engine to blow stuff up :) Even though that's a slim chance, just ask Shane and his leaky injector seals and Justin, Paul, and I who recieved the full does of fuel sprayed all over us

ETA: Opening the gas cap doesn't depressurize anything between the pump and FPR. There's a sort of check valve built into the pump that prevents fuel from draining back into the tank from the lines. Just do like Oldirty says and put a rag around one of the lines as you crack it open.

Since it seems that a craftsman multi use toolbox wrench isnt going to fly what do you suggest for a line wrench?

maybe a link or something as I am still new to quality tools.

Yah Lee I'm going to just get of my ass and do it myself help or not. Now I'm just trying to find some line wrenches that dont cost 80 bucks. Does the 17mm need to be a line wrench or can i fudge on that one and just get a 14mm line for the actual nut or will that strip up too?

    http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/produ...ubcat=Wrenches

    No 17mm Line wrench here

    Sigh

    I'm gonna break something

YAY IM A DSMER NOW lol

oh and are the measurements on the 2G filter 17 and 14mm respectively still?
