So after a long ass Monday I fell asleep in my recliner watching F&F 2. Since the tune on my car has been stressing me out I had a dream my friend Dave and I went tuning to try and isolate the problem. Dave made some quick adjustments while I putt over to the freeway. We head down the 156 towards Vegas, the issue seems to be indeed RPM (thought it wasn?t thought to be previously). We make a few pulls and adjust accordingly. Still having a problem with flooring it between 4500 and 6000, we decided to head back. Pulls starting with it floored under 4500 pull great to 8500.
Cruising along I notice HIDs in the rear-view changing lanes through traffic and coming up fast. The car passes us by; after he gets a few cars up I mash it and match his speed. It turns out to be a 2006 Z4 M Coupe (330hp). I brake boost in 4th since I have to start at 4k. Boost hits ?insta-ten-car-lead. We slow down and he rolls down his window clapping out the window with both hands, laughing his ass off.
Him: ?I love the pizza sign!?
?How much juice are you guys using??
Dave: ?No nitrous?
Him: something about a blower
Dave: ?It?s turbo?
Him: How big is it?
Dave: [makes a circle with his index finders and thumb]
Him: ?What kind of car is that??
Dave: ?It?s a Colt?
Him: ?That?s awesome! ?Pizza sign!?
At the same time we were talking a 3rd car had come up from behind. Since we were going about 20 under the limit, he started to pass in the exit-only lane. As he was passing, he stopped next to us (pacing) to watch; realizing we might be racing?
3rd at 4k came up as our speed diminished. We both nailed it. As boost hit the Colt took flight, the jaw of the guy in the exit lane drops, ~10 cars by 8500. We both part our separate ways.
I wake up and think about how cruel it is for your friends to buy you the F&F series as a joke for your b-day.
1 of many to come for Colt 2 of 2. //Dave has the other giant killer
Moral of the story? It?s not the horsepower, it?s the reaction.
