I don't know jack about Cobras except for IMO they're ugly as shit and made poorly (don't reply to that, just my opinion) and 90% of them that I see are just moderatly fast. It's like the owners cough up the cash for them, put an exhaust and wheels on it and that's it. It's like the Honda owners except they happen to have a fast car to begin with. The reason I have heard is it's expensive to mod them right. Just what I've heard, like I said I don't know much about them. Obvious pro for the Cobra is it's got balls from the factory.

Cons of the GS-T are the obvious ones. Heavy and FWD. Pros; extremly cheap to mod (IMO) and those affordable mods actually add noticable horse power unlike NA 4 bangers where you speand $300 on a header and pick up 3-5 hp :? You already know DSMs really well and you know everything about your own car so that's always good. IIRC you've already got a handful of mods so there's a great starting point.

I don't know if gas milage matters to you but that's an issue for some people. My DSM got 32mpg on the trip here without being "de-tuned" or even turning the boost down. That's some 24psi WOT playing and lots of hills and mountains. Not bad. A Cobra couldn't hang with that.

since it will be my only car, i'm looking for something I wouldn't have to mod too much because of reliability, I have had three dsm's two broke down almmost weekly, while this one I owned for a year with only problems being a boost leak (or whatever that prob I had was :x ) Until the motor went :( Gas mileage dosent matter too much to me (even though I heard it should be up to $4 a gallon by next week  ) But in short I'm looking for the one that will hold up better. I should try researching a bit more, i tried searching for some info pages on mustangs and modding them but all I got was forums.

Gas is dropping a few pennies a week here, I'm sure CA will follow slowly. It's already down around 2.82 and just a week ago it was up at 2.95-2.99 for 87. I don't understand what's so unreliable about DSMs? Every single time something screwed up on my car, it wouldn't have happened if I wouldn't have messed with it and done something wrong. Yeah my valve seals went after a fresh head but that was the machine shops fault and they fixed their mistake. I drive the thing almost every day and even on the 800+ mile drive here it didn't have a single problem.

Have you even had anything major go wrong with your dsm? I think your problem is you dont know a whole lot about cars, so when you get a little problem and dont know how to fix it it bugs the shit out of you for a long time and then you have to end up paying a lot to fix a little problem. Or the little problems that are left turn into bigger ones.

I think you need something like a TC or something else new with a warranty that you can just drop off at the dealer whenever something goes wrong since it has a warranty.

    You couldn't be more wrong....

What year Cobra are you looking at? Of course, your best choice would be the 03/04 with the s/c. With around 1k in mods, you can easily (and reliably) see close to 500hp (thats 100-125 hp for ~1k in mods, can you do that in a DSM reliably? ) The older cobra's are still easy to mod, and fairly cheap.

IMO, i'd rather start with a more powerful car (Mustang) than a DSM that I'd have to mod to keep up with a stock GT....just some food for thought....

    YES!

God, if you can't get 100-125hp (ESPECIALLY crank horse power) out of $1000 on a DSM you're fucking retarded!

IMO, I will always stick with 4 Cylinders. 4 Cylinders obviously have less expensive parts, easier to work with etc. DSM, STi, EVO, :) all very nice I believe. :D I'd also only buy "Imports" but thats a personal preference.

oh yeah. buy a used 16g-$200, used downpipe-$150, k&n-$40, restrictor in line for boost-free, used afc-$200, 5 gallons of 114-$30. $620 for over 100 horse on a dsm that leaves money for a clutch. bang! low 12 sec ride right there. tell me of another car that has that bang for the buck.
