Default So Long Aku Mitsu ...

Hey times have been hard, and I havent been around because of that. But I miss all of you so much, those who know me.. Slo bo Brian, Rendy.. Salvo, Pauli.. especially..

After realizing it will cost me as much to buy a new car just like it , to repair it and get it out of repo, 1600$ plus 2k in repairs... or prevent repo.. (975.00) and then repair (plus 2k).. it... I decided to let it go and save up for a new car, so i can slap my turbo right on it.

    Keeping all my aftermarket parts..

    Sad times.. sad times..

So in about 4 months or so Ill be looking for a bone stock 99 eclipse rs, fire engine red, 13/15k miles on it... Manual tranny.. let me know if you guys see one on the market. I'll be in a mood, teary eyed and sad for a while.. but this is for the best.. gotta let him go.

    Hey Sophia,

I'm sorry to hear that you have to let your car go. I hope all is well in your new endeavors and good luck finding that new DSM :)

Hi, thanks for advice but resale value is not what this is about... you see the only way to get my eclipse from me is to steal it or repo it, of wreck it around me so i cant drive it home... I do not resell... Its a huge sentimental thing to me, all kinds of silly symbology and important mental goals and mile stones in that car. Fact is I cant buy that model new anymore.. so I will get the closest I can to that.

    :)

Can I ask why you plan on shopping for a non-turbo rather than turbo?

I know what youre going to say honey.. "selllit n get a gs-t" hehehehehe

Thats a good question, mainly its because I love the car and I am stubborn about what I want no matter how crazy it is (see facial tattoos) ... but I also invested in a stage two hahn racecraft turbo kit for the car already.. I am into modifying Rs's into turbo.. yea we are out there hehehe..

My first was an rs and so I started out with rs... but I hear a lot of wonderful things about 4G63, some day I would like to own one of those too... I rarely do the apples and oranges comparison between 420A and 4G63 i think they are both wonderful cars and both have modification possiblities, one less expensive than the other and that same one is also in the possiblities of being wAY faster than the other I understand that. I am happy with the limits of the car following hahn's scaled upgrades.. don't need to go faster than that for what I am looking for.

My play mates on the road and gear head 4G63 buddies (I miss you TJ) have all been so supportive and taught me soooo much about the TURBO version of the eclipse and I am not dumb enough to think its not the most efficient and cost effective route to speed considering the eclipses out there and all.... I also understand its "silly" expensive to mod an rs vs a gst or gsx but this is what I want to do and I am stubborn as hell, ask anyone here hehehe..

I also want to be sponsored by Hahn, they are a contingency sponsor as well for the nhra sport compact series, which I have competed in once already... they have a long long line up of badges I have to first earn to get their attention, so I look forward to working towards that... but first, yeaaaaaah I need a car. My current one is just too far gone at this point.

Never! I always get tired of people telling non turbo owners to "sell it and get a turbo"!!! But 99% of the time the only reason people don't "sell it and get a turbo!!!!" is because they're either financiall or emotionally attached to their non turbo. I figured if you're starting fresh you'd get go with the turbo but it sounds like you've got good plans for a none turbo in the future. Good luck with it!

    i say

sell the stage2 kit............then buy a turbo dsm, and use that money to mod the turbo dsm. 3k for 7psi? i could get fat men to make more airflow than that.

i am currently turboing my cousins GS, its been a project in slow motion since jan 05, and from the looks of it, itll be jan 07 before it gets close to completion. the engine is getting fully built, still 2.0, but forged crank, pistons, rods, low compression(8.5 i believe). head got rebuilt i believe also. though hes broke and the motors been sitting there for months now. the plan was to get the motor in and run it for 500 miles, in that 500 miles he is supposed to save money for the star stg2 kit, that way the motor will be broken in when we turbo it.

the engine rebuild kit is 2k, the labor is 1,500, the star stg2 kit is 3k. not to mention other little shit(safc to tune, injectors+resistor box, clutch/flywheel, real exhaust(he has muffler right now) and intake), and then he still needs to repaint the car, and he wants me to start work on a custom fiberglass box for his hatch.

total waste of 10k IMO. i could buy a crx and get better results with half that. and a 1g awd and get better results than half of half of that. or something.

    but thats just me.

I know what you mean. I am not too versed on star systems, but I have heard good and bad. I would not turbo an RS with anything but hahn, I dont have the resources and research to make a kit on my own or cover for the problems and maintenance of another kit I don't have experience with, hahn did all that reasearch for me and its cool so far..

For me, its not about making a car any car as fast as possible.. Its about that particular model and my emotional attatchments and inspirations for it. there are many options, some more some less expensive, but none of them have that specifice route that I want.. none exept for that car.. I have plans for other cars too.. But my future is laced into this one for now.
