I agree with some of this. A sniper should ride in every helicopter, if you're seen shooting at anybody or anything, you will be immediately shot. However, everybody from the local authorities all the way up to the feds fu!@ed up this one... local authorities should have provided transport for those that couldn't afford it/didn't have cars (I hear there were *some* busses, but obviously not enough). National Guard should have been in there forcefully evacuating people. Now in the aftermath, federal response should have been immediate, none of this "we have to wait for the state to ask" the state was under 20 fscking feet of water! Helicopters that are flying in to evacuate people should be flying in food and water for those that have to wait to be evac'ed, drop that off, pick people up, and evac them. Looters are another issue... but there needs to be some differentiation. People stealing food and water, blankets and clothes (not 10 pairs of fscking Nikes) to survive NEED those items. People stealing TVs and guns and other shit need their heads beaten in with said items. I don't understand HOW they think that the plasma or bigscreen is going to work after being underwater... but that's neither here nor there... I think that things are getting better, but initial response sucked on ALL levels.. there's NOBODY to point fingers at, because everybody fscked up. And now Bush has a perfect opportunity to pull our troops out of iraq. We need to stop wasting money over there... we've got them started up, they need to take the ball and roll with it, and we need manpower here. AND as a bonus, it won't look like we're running away. *shrugs* That's not going to happen though.

Tell it to the 10,000 people who were told to go to the convention center if they had no transportation and then left to rot without food and water for 4 days.

i guess there's no transportation even though i personally sent humvees and buses and firetrucks over there.
fuck that... i don't believe that for one god damn minute. we sent buses and transportation for them and they refused it. the city hired buses from other cities to go pick them up. so don't say they didn't have transportation.
