Default Since I'm keeping my eclipse what do I need?!?

I have to keep my eclipse, since its so bad with negative equity, and wouldn't attempt to let the insurance company pay for it ( again ) I have a blown motor, so what do I need to get it running? Would I have to buy an engine rebuild kit, or another longblock? And to the guy I was going to send the sidemarkers to, sorry i have to keep the car and don't want to drive around with the bulbs hanging out of it. :P If I buy the long block, I got an estimate for $1600 install, is this a good price? Just double checking since i have been on a getting ripped off streak lately.

shit is that just for the install!!!!and not the motor plus install... Im sure there is alot of capable people here that would be more than happy to do it for less than that!!!just ask around for a shop in here cheaper or else... hey anyone wanna bid on this install!!!!

robert, the install is the easiest part!

seriously tho, as long as you have ALL the tools you need, I'll be more than happy to help you out. I'm sure I can get thomas and another local guy to help out also. We'd cost about $1,560 less than the shop ($40 for some beer).....

Your easiest (and probably cheapest) route would to just go out and buy a used longblock. Maybe M&S has something, or you could try the Attarco place here in Modesto...

Yeah i got my talons long block from there, but I hear they're not actually turbo'd engines. maybe thats why they only charge $800 with core return.

fuck yeah, i just saw a 97 n/t go for 10,5 last week. my cousin bought his 96 n/t for 11,7 about 3 years ago.

alot of people in the dsm world lowball our cars, when in reality we can get much more for them. you might not think its worth 9k, but there are those that will jump on this. hell if boostedawd got offers for his 97 teg for 8500, i think i can do a bit better. stupid kiddies will always pay alot for these cars.

if i dont get 9k for it, im not selling it.

and after looking at prices of mustang parts, im kinda torn now. theyre fucking expensive. intake filter and pipe for 150 bucks? side exit exhaust for 1000? then you still have to paint the side skirt for another 250. i havent even looked at gears yet. no wonder nobody does real mods to stangs, they either cant afford it, or its too much of a pain in the ass. looking at the header install writeup, its easier to take the whole motor out.

That's the thing right there, DSMers want to pay $2K under book for a moded or formerly modded car. I guess if you can find someone who knows nothing about the cars you could get what you want. Isn't book on a 97 only like $8K or less?

i dont know about now, but last year when i got rear ended, my buddy who worked at ford, ran wholesale book for me(to see how much repairs would cost before they just total it out) and it came out to 9500. that means, had i traded in my car for something, they would give me around 6,5-7,5 for it.

hell when i went and looked at this redfire metallic '04 gt with gunmetal bullits for 18, the guy asked if i was trading in my car, and i said no cause they couldnt give me what i want for it, he said how much i want and i told him "9 grand in stock form". his response was, "thats it?".

also kbb is strange. my neighbors just sold their 97 tahoe for 10k. we looked up ours(since its the same and better condition) and kbb said like 6k for private sale.
