Thread: exhaust inspection

Has anyone ever had to get their exhaust reffed or checked out for having modified exhaust? I was wondering if they only check for the decible reading or if they actually check for the cat converter. My brother just got a exhaust modification ticket in his CAMARO, i was suprised. Any help would be great.

wow you mean they actually pulled over a domestic and ticketed them and didnt let them go for having a v8? dam they mustve been really bored that night.

they check for cats(since they do a thorough fine tooth visual inspection) as well as sound and actual smog test.

no cat, no test....no cat, no pass test anyways.

look up the yellow pages for your local muffler shop and call them, some do db test! and it does not matter if you have an modify exhaust just as long as you pass the db test, they will give you a sheet of your test and it will show the db i belive 90 db is a pass. and if you do pass take it to court and show the judge and hell drop the case.

Sweet thanks for the help guys. Yeah I was AMAZED he got a ticket in his camaro they must have been really desperate to give a ticket. I'll give muffler tech a call about the decible test deal and see what they say. because even with my full 3 inch exhaust my exhaust is not half as loud as most hondas, so i think i want to just go get my exhaust signed off before i even get a ticket.

Man i just tried calling muffler tech and marco muffler and neither do the decible tests. I also tried pacific audio and they don't do the tests either. Anyone know where i can go? Any help would be great.
