good luck getting it put in. some shops will do it, and if you can find one, let me know cause i've got an exhaust to get welded together. reason being is that they don't want to be held responsible for you being not "smog legal" and don't want to pay the fines associated with such.
Yeah well, I don't think they'll say much if I don't have it on the car when I take it to them...will they? I can just tell them its for off-road use...and if all else fails I have a friend who runs a body shop and I think it has a muffler shop next door. 1BADTSI had to get his put on somewhere =).
That reminds me, I have one off of my 1g that I'm selling if anyone is interested, already welded on to a stock downpipe and with the cockpit lever. :backontopic: Anyway, taking it to a shop with the downpipe in hand should work. Just don't go to a major Exhaust shop and you'll be fine. I did my straight pipe like that for the GSX. Just brought my 3" hiflow and told them to make me a matching straight pipe. If all else fails, throw it at jonathans face with a couple of bucks and he'll do it for you in less the a few mins.

Which one is Jonathan? =) If all else fails I'll just give it to my dad, he can weld, he just doesn't like to. lol
Its gonna be on a Tsuedo 3" downpipe with no cat so thats already not smog legal. Will make it tons easier to remove at inspection time though. Instead of having to put back the whole exhaust.
BTW, is yours a manual or something because you said lever in the cockpit?
Alright so I got my cutout on my downpipe after 2 attempts to get it in the right position. Its hitting...more like just touching the bottom of the car, so I think me and my dad are going to have to rotate it a little more. Its kind of cool though...sounds like a tractor to me...lol. My friend says it sounds good to him...so it might, cause my opinion is that stock exhaust is loud enough. =). Anyways. I plan to post up some pics and maybe a movie or two on DSM tuners about it since they don't have anything on there yet.
1BadTsi - Could you tell me how exactly you had this oriented on your car? Right now mine is pointing towards the drivers side (was hitting the heat shield for the cat when pointing towards the pass. side) and is right before where the connection is the cat back. Just wondering if you had any pics of yours or anything so maybe I could get a fresh idea of how to do mine. I'm trying to get the motor up and out of the way.
Thanks.
hmm. i dont have any pics, but i have mine poitnting at the passenger site, that seemed to give me the most clearance under that heat shield thingy
my cut out makes v8 guys cringe when i rev back at them
Hey Jonathan.. wanna do some quick welding for me?
I think I might have less clearance overall because mines 3" and yours is on the stock dp right? I dunno, gonna take it to my dads work tonight and we're gonna actually line it up while its on the car this time instead of him just guessing at angles and stuff =). Hopefully we'll get an optimal setup after this. Yeah the V8 guys should cringe....lol....I know I do when its open. Does yours cause a lot of resonation and vibration when its open?Originally Posted by 1BADTSi
