Thread: honest opinion

i need your guys honest opinion... i am getting really irratated by the contrast in color of my dash setup.. my pioneer deck is bright blue and my new boost gauge is near that color.. yet my stock ones are all orange... normally i wouldnt think about putting indiglo gauges in the car.. but if i can get my whole dash setup the same color id like to.. the deck was 300$ so im not changing that :P well honest opinion.. will that loook ghey and all ricerish with those gauges in there? the orange and blue is kinda annoying but then again white gauges in the day would look weird too.. what do yall think?

My car came with the indiglo gauges that didn't work. So they look ok but I wouldn't count on reliability.

I'd get the "reverse indiglo" gauges. Those are the ones where the hole face doesn't like up, just the letters and dashes and stuff. Usually the numbers are blue and the rest red. I had them in my car in highschool and still think they're unique without screaming RICE!!!

I don't think they look good on 2g's man.If you want something different you could try turning your orange lights to blue.thres a write up on tooners on how to do it.I know it's not expensive,but it's very time consuming.If i was to do any mods to my(if i had a 2g) dash,that would be it.

well its not about wanting to do something different.. its just the contrast of the orange and blue are messing with my eyes.. it wasnt to bad with the deck only but now i got my boost gauge installed ( ALL THANKS TO LEE!!! ) and a combo of the two.. the two colors are battling for control and its getting to my eyes. only reason id get the reverse glow is so all the lights in my car will be same color and will be easier on my eyes.. i got the new pioneer that just came out and its REALLY bright blue.

You're already leaning towards changing the color of your gauges. If you have the time and money than just do it. I also want to change the color of my stock gauges to blue or indiglo, but right now I rather invest my money on performance parts first. If your current color layout of the gauges is bothering you that much then just do the switch. I'm sure Lee can help you out if you treat him to a meal and a six pack. Right Lee?

heh well changing tha gauges isnt the problem.. i did it myself on my 90 300zx i used to have..and if you know anything about Z's you know they are not cars that are ment to work on :shock: im not a total dullard when it comes to cars.. my main concern was lookin ricerish or somethin to that sort..if for some reason i had just the hardest time doin it then i would break down and ask for a hand but it pains me to ask ppl for help.. specially since i already did to lee

I'm sure most DSMers here would lend a helping hand if you asked. I don't think adding the indiglo gauges would make it look ricerish. In fact, it would make your interior look better since the color would match that boost gauge and the deck you bought. Did you buy a glowshift gauge? And I never said you are a "total dullard."
