Honestly, the reliability hasn't been as bad as people like to say. That being said, it still has it's fair share of problems that come with owning a 15 year old car. Off the top of my head, since I got the car in 2003, I've had to fix/replace the heater core, idle air sensor, front O2 sensor, front drivers side driveshaft (boot was cut open), a U-joint on the rear driveshaft, front and cam seals, the radiator (inlet broke off), and the catalytic converter.

Oh yea, and I've been through a few starters and alternators because the ones from Kragen/Autozone are crap.

I drive this car from El Dorado Hills to Sacramento (25-30 miles one way) most of the days out of the week. To answer your question though, it's been reliable enough for me to trust it as a DD, even with the occasional trip to the bay or Stockton.

good to hear, i DD mine from Modesto to Tracy every day, and trust it enough that me and the gf went on a 6hr excursion from modesto to SF, through SF and up to muir beach, back through and down 680 just cause we were bored. Im at 119,700 and some change, and just ordered timing belt kit and water pump. Its 14b at stock boost with an intake filter/pipe and catback, and drives nice (aside from vert top creaks), though when i got the car i had no intention of racking up that sort of mileage.
