Default Dont marry an Environmental planner...... My new car...

Uhm.. Don't really know HOW this happened...

Yesterday started out like any other.. Drove around.. Talked to the wife about what kind of car we should get next..

Then before I knew what the hell was happening I was driving home $35,000 poorer in my new HYBRID..

    HYBRID.... ME... HYBRID............................
    AND ITS A FORD!

2008 Ford Escape AWD Hybrid...... Brand spankin new..

    Wow..

I mean WOW.. This must be what its like to get date raped.. I mean I wasnt planning on doing anything stupid.. I was just going out for a good time at my local Ford Dealer... The salesman smiled.. I took it for a test drive... Then it all kind of goes blank untill im sitting in my driveway .. Car still running.. Or well the little green ON light tells me its running, cause its not making any noise..

(To be honest I researched this sh!t outta these things before I bought one.. But I honestly wasnt planning on buying one yesterday!)

    Oh well..

I don't think the hybrid part hurts half as much as the FORD?..

    Congrats though.

Yah I know......... Trust me.. but...

Well why this hybrid of any.. The hybrid tech that ford uses is licensed from Toyota....

The chassis is based on a Mazda platform (or is a descendant of a mazda platform)...

Its awd.. Highest fuel economy SUV in the world... I wouldnt spend the money for any other Hybrid SUV I dont think.. Not worth it..

Even this thing doesnt pay for the extra sticker with gas savings..

And although I am ashamed to admit it.. I have owned 5 Fords in my life now.. 2 went over 300,000 miles without a problem.. One has 150,000 on it right now and is running strong.. And the other was a piece of crap not worh mentioning.. 4 outta 5 aint bad.. (Fords still make up the smallest percentage of vehicles I've owned)

Besides If im gunna buy domestic quite honestly Id rather take a Ford over GM who cant wire a car to save their damned lives.. And no one seems to remember GM's first attempt at Hybrids a few years back.. Miserable failure resulting in buybacks!! Start paying attention to full sized GM trucks and SUV's.. Look at the running lights.. half of them on the road are popeyed.. (Ford over GM except for C6's)

Chrysler isnt worth mentioning.. I have a little too much dignity to purchase a Chrysler product.. (except for a DSM which is Mitsu engineered anyhow)

And I guess I'm kinda bored with Japanese imports... The new toyota's are FUGLY..Especially the Camry.. I just sold a 2004 Corolla.. What a POS..

I wanted European.. But the wife wanted this.. So we compromised and bought this...

(And Im not homo enough to buy a Prius.. So this WAS a compromise in some strange way)

What do you mean by C6? Do you mean the Ford C6 automatic transmission? Or the Corvette?

Fords do have very good wiring. GM's wiring is outsourced to companies like Delphi which has factories in 3rd world countries, using inferior connectors with pretty much no corrosion protection.

Just the other day, I saw a Lincoln Towncar that's a taxi getting a tune-up at a Lincoln dealership in SoCal. It had 704K miles on it, yes, 704,000 miles on it. Original Engine and original trans, just routine maintenance was performed when scheduled. I talked a little bit with the owner who bought the car brand new.
