    Default valentine one

Whats the deal with radar detectors? I tried finding out if they're legal or not here is Sac, but i cant seem to find anything. My cousin in law has a Valentine One on his lexus and i thought about getting one, but i dont know if its worth it. What do you guys think?

I had one for a year or so, and it kept me from getting 3 tickets, they go off alot, but they're good for when cops are sitting on the side of the road with thier radar gun out. And they gotta be legal if they sell em at best buy.

yeah but best buy sells junk radar detectors......

and if a cop does pull you over and he sees the detector it gives him "reason to suspect" and he'll have you pop your hood.

Not like he'll find anything there, if he even knows what he's looking for...

Not quite :) The radar detector itself isn't enough "probable cause" to look under your hood. Most likely though, 99% of people will comply with the orders of officers when in essence they are asking questions that sound like demands :D Anywho...

Save some money and purchase the Escort Passport. The 8500 can be found for a reasonable price on eBay. The newer model I believe is something like the 9500 has a lot of features as well but cost quite a bit more because it is so new. The Passport doesn't have the arrows but it does detect radar from greater distances. Easy to use and very reliable..until you leave it in your car for a few minutes and someone breaks into it and steals it

As Lee mentioned the radar detectors are 100% legal here in CA. Last time I researched it, they were only prohibited in VA and DC. This was due to frequencies and national security yada yada..

Radar jammers are prohibited here so don't go out buying those. :D

The Valentine One is bar none the best the unit out there, nomatter what anybody reads. Escort has a very good marketing and advertising department, I'll give em that. The Escort Passport units are good too, but a V1 has better components inside it that handle high heat in the windshield area better, detects from a farther range, less false alerts and tells you which direction the radar/laser signal is coming from. The Passport doesn't do all of that. I've hard-wired countless of both of these units for many of my customers, mostly truckers and people that travel in their car for work. Some of them had both units hooked up at the same time to test them out. They all told me that the V1 alerted them of a radar/laser band a couple seconds quicker then the Passport units.

I don't drive fast, usually I go about 60-63mph in a 65 zone, but a couple seconds quicker response means you can react quicker and let off the gas, hit the brakes, throw it in neutral, etc.

If you really want some protection and as close as you can get to immunity, you might want to look at some radar/laser detectors/scramblers from Rocky Mountain. I've hardwired a lot of those units for people all over and they are very happy with their units. If you know that you're a speeder and don't want to get caught by the radar/laser gun, a hardwired scrambler is the only way to go. Be ready to spend over $2 grand on a nice unit.

Beware, a pig can have his gun off and pace you at your speed and give you a ticket for speeding.

Everything I've seen about Rocky Mountain detectors and scramblers are really crummy. I've recently read several reviews about several detectors this past week (so I could input something into this topic and for my personal info) and the top 2 I've seen so far was the Passport 8500 and Bel STi Driver. The Valentine One would be 3rd place but was ranked considerably behind the STi Driver and 8500.

Well i heard a lot of good on the V1, my cuz went to denver and he went 110-130 the whole way from sac. It saved him 3 tickets. I also think its better because it shows you how many radars there are on you, and the direction.
