Default RRE vouches for MEGAN coilovers?

scroll down a bit on the 4G eclipse parts page and you'll see this:

    "Megan Racing Coil Over Suspension

This quality coil over adjustable suspension is a great budget buy for both a good ride and better handling. Being built overseas they can get a bad rap but they are made in the same factory as many other fashion name coil overs. Includes adjustable front camber plates and everything you need for a professional installation."

RRE are a bunch of HACKS,

Jon Muller can kind of drive thats the only reason that shop gets any cred, and that they are in so cal around all the big tracks.

no specific question just wanting to know what people think. so far we got some polarized opinions. that RRE are hacks is surprising, but I wouldn't know.

RRE are hacks and thieves. Jon Muller and their time in the DSM scene are all they have going for them. You always get what you pay for. Megan Racing shit isn't some amazing value. If a part is made overseas to save money, somone will always pocket that extra money before it gets to the consumer hands. You're not getting a high performance system with that and you'll never hear otherwise from someone who's actually used it on a race track.

Mueller doesn't run Megans... that's all I have to say about that. As far as the Megan suspension itself, they will hold up for a regular everyday driver.
However, suspension is the last thing I would cheap out on. You're either in for a crappy ride, or worse yet, they don't hold up to the stress most DSM'ers put on their cars ricing around and beating the crap out of their cars. Cheap coilovers turn into expensive coilovers when you have to get them revalved or rebuilt later on. If you pick up a quality piece, you'll still have to rebuild them later on, just not as fast unless you run a full race suspension on the street constantly.

As far as coilovers go for our cars, you wont find any that are too far above the curve. They are all made in some part by the same company to some extent and resemble each other greatly.

I love them because they offer a comfortable ride on the streets, something my Koni/GC setup never could.

If you want to do some hrdcore racing the K yellows with GCs are pretty much where it is at. Let anyone tell you differnet then do some research yourself and see what the actual racers are using.

My only problem with them was my daily ride quality, I'd have to swap in my heavier springs when I went out to any runs or any events, then I'd have to jack the car back up to swap back in my mild springs. On my highest *softer* setting my Megans ride better than stock. Turn them down and they are ready for the canyon/mountain runs which I frequent regularly. *pop the hood and turn a knob...*

    It is what it is.

Eh i beg to differ. The 2 top Coilover manufacturers for DSM's off the top of my head actually own their own manufacturing facilities and make their own stuff..

All the no-namers are the same trash you find anywhere else including those Megans..

Muller runs his "own" Custom coilovers, I have personally seen him and his cars at the track during time attack races,

his stuff would NEVER live during an endurance race,

Plus the guy drives with reckless abandoned, he is a NIGHTMARE for anyone with a nice paint job to share the track with

    And those would be?

The thing is, with out cars to be competitive you don't wanna run coil overs anyways you want to run GCs. So after that it all becomes how much money do you want to waste on doing the same thing. If you wanna track your car to some sort of preofessional level you wont be rolling on COs in the first place.

Now what is sh*tty would be rocking anything made by KYB *GR-2/AGX*, or Tokico, and doing anything that requires a turn.

There are many avenus you can go. Wanna be cheap, don't care at all, rock regular shock and springs, wanna waste your money rock anything from KYB. If you want to daily drive on a car with decent handling grab yourself just about any CO made by a decent company. Megans just happen to be the most adjustable and prettiest Throw in a lifetime warranty and you're done. If you want to be competive go Koni/GCs.

There really are no other options, they are few and far inbetween but as I said before, it is what it is. You don't pro race on COs in the first place so why "waste" money on some big name CO company that will cost you a sh*t load more than GCs and you'll still get rocked at the track. There is a reason no one does that..
