    Default On the Gun topic..

I have realized that people on Gun forums are WAYYYY smarter than people on car forums,

Maybe because when you build a gun wrong you die, you build a car wrong and you get on the boards and ask other tards who built their cars wrong what they think happened...

ah i dunno about that.. sometimes they can sound smarter cause they know more about a topic than you do.. But go read around about all the idiots asking how to clean or field strip a gun.. It gets pretty scary.. Shit theres ppl out there that recomend using wd40 and flat out axle grease on a gun.. R-tards..

For the naysayers. WD40 is just kerosene and mineral spirits.. Its shit

are you serious? CLP isn't that expensive and works pretty good. it's what we use in the military. for CA and pretty much anywhere as long as you aren't in super hot desert climates where it's super sandy, or in super cold weather, CLP will be just fine.

    Huh?? WD40 isnt CLP...

Im not sure what your post is meant to say..

CLP is decent. Meets a mil spec.. works a helluva lot better than wd40.. but you wouldnt want it down your barrel ..

It can still sludge up over time in finer workings too..

    wd40 is crap..

Mostly kerosene and some mineral spirits.. The kerosene breaks down and partially evaporates leaving a nasty sludge..

WD is marginal at best as a rust protectant or lubricant..

CLP is a much better choice.. But still not the best out there..

The two are NOT the same thing

Squirting WD40 on your gun is about like using walmart supertech motor oil in your 4g63..

It might work.. But.. Honestly.. for saving a couple of bucks you wanna risk it?

CLP is the shit, I have my sister send me issued shit still from her armory. All of that designer gun cleaner bull shit works if your gun is screwed up to begin with: Fouled barrel, leaded barrel, ridiculously dirty action, or some other issue that comes with not cleaning your firearms enough. Break Free is cool because it's easy to use in the spray can. Wd40 is just stupid, I think some of Shane's friends use that stuff lol. Didn't you tell me that Shane? CLP was good in the desert. You just can't leave any on the outside finish and you have to leave a THIN coat on the inside of the barrel and inside the recievers. Or, like you said, it'll collect dust and sand like no other.

And Jonathon you're right! Guys on serious gun forums are waaaaaaaaaay smarter. Especially because they almost always cite their information they're spreading. Unlike DSMtuners... they just cite the thread they read 1 week ealier from the guy who cited another thread one week earlier from the guy... yeah... There are some asshats on the more trendy sites. Like Glocktalk or AR15.com. You can spot them though

I have that CLP stuff and those Hoppes barrel snakes

I always laugh when DSM'ers debate what oil to use...

Then I look at their car and say why does it matter look at all the other stuff you did'nt give a care about.

Like Rich's car, it did not even need oil it would have never ran unless he brought it to my house and fixed all of the things his retard friends screwed up, not Rich's fault but you see what I mean.

luckily i learned a lot from jonathan. first engine builds are always the scariest when you have no clue. ask me to do it now, and i've got enough confidence to do anything except timing.

guns on the other hand... i've worked on anything from a paintball gun to my dad's duck guns. the only person i'd turn to for help with that would be Phil. since it's his job. haha.
