    Default Car height

Not sure if this is the right section to post in, but I was wanting to know how low a car can be legally. Some of my friends have told that in California, your headlights have to be 18" off the ground, but I wanted to know for sure. I dont want to get pulled over and get a ticket. Thanks for the help.

Altering Height of Vehicle California Vehicle Code Sections 24008 & 24400

The frame of the vehicle, or any other part, cannot be lower than the lowest point of the wheel rim. Also, headlights must be within the range of 22-54 inches above the street. Therefore, if a vehicle is lowered, the headlights must be at least 22 inches above the street. If the vehicle is raised, the headlights must not be greater than 54 inches above the street.

    (2) Even if you abide by 24008 & 24400 when lowering you car, law enforcement will still be on your ass like white on rice on a paper plate in a snow storm.
