    Default Anyone else doing NASA

Me and rich (euroeclipse) are planning on doing NASA this year... and I wanted to see if anyone else is joining in on the fun.

Maybe we'll have a SacDsm team

I'll be in the PTA class and rich should be in the PTB class.

My class is gonna be alittle harder going against MW M5s, Corvette C6's, Ferrari 355's and Testarossas, Lotus Esprit, Porshe 993,996 etc

Check out this site to see what class you would be in... this is for the 06 season but it should be relatively the same.

Good luck guys! Glad to see some of you running your cars. Make sure that you have everything that you need to bring with you to the track.....as well as that your car is prepped for major abuse. If you would like, I can send over a list of items that I would reccomend bringing with.

I'd love to join you but the EVO just left the building :( :( :(

I'm thinking about taking the s2k. Need to do more reading up on it first, though.

You guys can and should just do some open track days with one of the following groups. Get some seat time under you and then start worrying about passing and the different groups.

Golden Gate Lotus Club - http://www.gglotus.org/trkdays/ggtrkday.htm

    Trackmasters - www.trackmasters.com

    NCRC - http://www.ncracing.org/events.html

Well as long as I dont have another trip this year I should have the 2.4 build done by 1Jan. I'd like to get everything tuned and ready to rock by 1feb. Oh it's ready for abuse...the only question is will I be ready to go from driving a stock 240 to the beast

Why are you guys chosing NASA instead of SCCA? I'm just trying to learn about the different organizations. Advantages? Disadvantages? From what I've heard, NASA is wild but SCCA is more organized and the drivers are better and more safety cautious. Is this true?

SCCA is too expensive and restrictive imho..

If I were you guys I would at LEAST start off with some NASA HPDE events so you can get some pedal time under your belts without the pressure of actual racing.. It gives you a much healthier respect of how much abuse you put that car through when your out there.. Id say at LEAST 10 percent of the cars that run at the HPDE events break down and have to be towed off.. Its an eye opener..

Id say that 98% of all DSM's on the road would take a fat crap on the track before too long..

Its a completely different prep.. Reliability at WOT for LONG LONG stretches is hard for 10-15 year old turbocharged cars..

I'll be prepping the car at Thunderhill under the guidance of the guys from WORKS and AMS. WORKS being the senior advisors with the most experience will be handling the tuning aspect of my car along with the advise. AMS learned a lot from last season and they're busy prepping TA2 (tattoo, their new time attack car) and I'm gathering info from them as well.

Oh and I don't drive a DSM with a 10-15 year old turbo.

AMS won't be out there, but offering more of a phone/email support when I send them data. The guys at WORKS will see the car and be able to help me trouble shoot stuff. I know a couple guys from WORKS and hopefully can get them to come out and watch.
