    Default Found the leak?

I went to 2 different stores to get all the items needed for the leak tester, which did not total $5 by the way. Hose was $8.59, valve stem $7.27, clamps and pvc end cap $4.58. But I made it finally. I hooked it up and heard a very small leak, by the turbo so I sprayed some car wash soap on it and the ic pipe started bubling air was coming out very sloowly, and it was very small :? Below is a pic of where its leaking from, is this VERY minor leak the cause of my boost problems?!?

    that was the only leak?

if it was leaking very slowly, i doubt that would cause big problems.

    what are your "boost problems"?

yeah that was the only leak it was completely silent, i filled it to 18psi, my boost problem are me being stuck at 13 psi. I turn up the boost and it spikes to the set amount then levels back down to 13.

ah ok, well it could be a couple of things...

    1. bad boost controller (what MBC are you using?)
    2. MBC hooked up incorrectly (sounds likely, since stock boost is 11-13 psi depending on mods)
    3. Wastegate problem.

Try switching the vac lines on your MBC, if its a ball/spring type, it won't work correctly if it is backwards.

The 3rd option is easy to diagnose. Simply disconnect the vac lines to the turbo, and if you hit higher than 13psi, its not the WG (doesn't sound like it is, since you say it "spikes" to your set boost, then drops to 13). Be careful when doing this, as you will build "infinite" boost.

rre mbc, it was working fine before, is it possible for it to break? I also forgot to close off the mbc and heard nothing i would think air would leak out of there when its open.

    yea, you are too?

ok, so let me understand this correctly. your mbc was working fine and holding the boost you set it at. then all of the sudden, one day it stopped working and would only spike to the set boost then drop to 13?

hrm if you are in modesto, maybe it would be easier to meet up and check out your car....

i had a small leak from my IC pipe before and it caused serious drop in my boost pressure. and i'm talking SMALL leak.
but i doubt that's the problem here.

my best solution would be to go ahead and get all the IC pipes on their nice and tight so they won't leak. take off the MBC and hook up the regular wastegate and read the boost gauge. then hook it back up, and make sure it's on right. read the boost gauge again.
if there's still a problem, do the vacuum line "mod". (rip all of them out... you don't need them...)
