The pictures suck. I didn't even go home, I went straight to Lake Pend Oreille for the weekend. It's dirty and rained on but you get the picture. It's an '07 Silverado 1500 "classic" Crew Cab LT Z-71.
It's got the following:
LS package (basic creature comferts)
LT package (bigger 5.3L engine, electronic diff and push button 4x4 controls, and a bunch of nicer features like tinted heated mirrors, leather wrapped stuff, and the like)
Z-71 Offroad package (~2" taller, bigger, more aggressive tires, 46mm shocks, full skid plates, fender flairs, off-road jounce bumpers, stabilizer bars)
LT "value package" (upgrades to the FFV 5.3 engine [runs on E85 or gasoline], heavy duty trailering equipment, external tranny cooler, rear locker, and an aluminum tubular bed extender)
I took a trip to Northern Idaho yesterday and visited Dave Smith Motors. They're located in Kellog, ID and are the largest dodge dealer in the world and have a load of GM vehicles also. Kellog is tiny and the entire city is basically a car lot. If you go to a restaurant or coffee shop, there are 2-3 dozen new cars stored in their parking lots so you have to park in the street. "Truck World" is a part of town where 1000 new Dodge trucks are parked, it's pretty wild.
I bought a new Trailblazer at Mike Daugherty Chevy last March on a holiday sale and ended up with a $30,995 rig for $23,500. Between the sale, factory incentives, and a mastercard rebate I had I saved $7,500 off MSRP. Not bad at all.
At Dave Smith, they have crazy buying power so they sell for the invoice price and it's "no haggle." I managed to haggle my way to another $700 off some how. Then there were $3000 in factory rebates and $700 in Dave Smith incentives. It was also that time of year again when my Mastercard company sent me a rebate and it was $1997. Then! The stupid sales lady turned in the paperwork for the contract and it was wrong so they had to eat another chunk of money and I ended up at $9,112 under MSRP. My new record lol On top of that, there were some options that weren't on the first invoice that was e-mailed to me but were on the truck. Fog lights, "redundant radio controls"(stereo bottons on the steering wheel) w/ driver information center, power seats, and a locking spare tire thingy. $520 bucks worth of stuff I didn't pay for. So I'm not complaining!
Anyways, besides my crazy good deal it was an awesome experience buying from them. I basically did everything over the phone then made the trip and was at the dealership for an hour and that included the test drive and eating some BBQ they had out front. If you need a Chrysler or GM vehicle, give them a call and see if it's worth a $300 plane ticket to buy out of state. They'll even pick you up at the airport when you get into town, they sell to people from every state in the country.
I put 200 miles on it this weekend, on road, off road, 4x4 in the mud and hale, through the mountains, flat highway, and in town and I'm averaging 20.1 MPG so I'm very happy. My buddy with the same size Ram is averaging 11mph lol. He drives a little stupid though. E85 is supposed to get 33mpg but we'll see.
I like the new style '07 that just came out but there are no incentives, a dealer mark up, and they're ~$2k more than the previous model. I would have paid $15,000 more for the same features in the new body style so I'll pass on that. Could have had one hell of a new Tahoe for that price. I'm just glad this one is an '07 and has the 100,000 drive train war.
