We've all at some point of our life of owning a DSM had to ghetto rig something up and learn from our mistakes, and that you can't ghetto rig something if you want it to last! So I just wanna see what you guys have found online (or maybe are willing to admit and share) that showcase what MOST dsm owners do during the early stages of learning. Heres some I've found while browing a thread dealing with Ebay Intercooler Installs:
This person wanted to install a 2g intercooler kit on his 1g since it only cost $295 shipped. Here you can see awsome fab work that'll hold. Notice the clocked 14b with the wastegate held on by paper brackets. SWEET! Not only has this individual saved money on an intercooler kit, he's also used the pacesetter exhaust manifold :)
On the same car, this person has used a rubber hose from Home Depot on the hot-side of the intercooler with clamps that normally hold the turbo to the intake pipe.
And this guy bought the same 2g i/c kit for his 2g, but wanted to retain his stock a/c fan without cutting it. And thus the great idea to route it underneath the crossmember.
I don't claim to have been immune from ghetto fab work when I purchased my first DSM and still learning car works/mechanics, but you can't help but find it ammusing. :) :) :)
