Default I am one LUCKY MOFO. PICS inside (This proves dirtys point)

This will sure pucker your ass when you see it 40 miles from home in a parking lot..

Note the oil film on the belt.. I Sprung a leak

    This happened today..

Needless to say I ponied up the 250 bux to pay for a tow home..

OIL LEAKS KILL TIMING BELTS!!! and you almost NEVER catch them like this before they go.. I just HAPPENED to hear something pulling into a parking lot and noticed it was rpm dependant but much slower than my engine rpm.. Accessory belts looked ok so I pulled the timing cover and started it.. I think my dive back through the window of my car to shut it off was the fastest ive moved in years..

all I can say is WOW!

You're lucky you heard that. I know a lot of people that would have been paying for the tow AND a new head.

Lucky you caught that one. Makes me want to go check my timing belt and make sure I have no leaks around there. Where exactly was the oil keaking from?

I havnt looked for the leak yet.. I have a complete engine gasket set waiting on a shelf for a refresh i was going to do next week..

The tow was $9 per mile after the first 5 (AAA) So actually i only had to PAY for 27 miles of it. Meaning they only called it 32 miles totall.. (Towing sux)

My wife was rooting for it to fail.. She has laid down the law with me.. No internal engine work for a little while (thanks to me spending like a drunken sailor for the last year or so)

So yah if that had gone either I would have been begging around for a used head or turning tricks on the corner to pay for it..

I actually had a nightmare that it failed last nite.. hehe..

I do a timing belt on a dsm just about every day, and more times than not they have front cover/cam seals/valve cover leaks
and the customer most of the time declines changing the seals
I then tell them well now your timing belt service just went from 50k to 5k miles... "why is that"

OIL AND COOLANT KILLS TIMING BELTS FAST!!!

So if you park your DSM and you see even ONE drop of oil over night you need to FIX IT or suffer the consequenses.

The main reason I say this is I had a car in my garage last week that I installed a engine in a year ago and the kid had a friend change the turbo on it and install some hack job oil feed line and it leaked and blew oil all over the t-belt,
So he calls me and tells me it had been leaking oil bad for a month or so and it just stopped running, and he wants me to fix it or he's going to try and take me to court.
So I'm a little sick of stupid DSM'ers right now
I pushed his car out on the street last night after he brought up the court thing, told him to pick his shit up. half taken appart
I was being cool but now its over!!!
