    Default New car time!!!

Well having been building and racing cars for the last 7 years and most of those have been in "Import" cars, mostly Nissan's, Mitsubishi's. Now don't get me wrong these were not your run of the mill "RICER" cars you see on Sunrise Blvd,
These were fully built race cars making hundreds more horsepower than a stock car of the same year. At the same time I have also been building a lot of older "Muscle" cars, early Camaros, Novas, Chevelles you know the
Cars "ALL" people actually like!! HAHA
Well the time has come for me to acquire one of these "older" cars myself
for more then a few good reasons
    1. They are only going up in value
    2. They don't have to pass SMOG
    3. Cops like em' (VERY GOOD REASON!!)
    4. Girls Dad's like em' even more than the cops!! HAHA
    5. They sound better (arguable against a 500-700hp turbo car yes)
    6. Better platform to showcase my fabrication skills
and the list could go on and on.
I have my eye on a 66' Chevelle and a 67' Nova at the moment
The Chevelle is a unrestored 50k original mile stocker
with perfect paint and interior and working AC.
the Nova is a original SS car, hugger orange repaint (a nice repaint)
A moser 9" rear end , a ex-show/drag car its very clean and is minus a motor and trans which is nice cause I'm going to build a stupid drive train to go in it
something well north of 1000hp ,fuel injected ,and forced induction

Yea I know I am going to the dark side, I an just tired of punk ricer kids ruining everything in the import car world
Altamont is no longer doing bi-monthly night drift events because some lame ass kids were drifting on the road out in front of the track on a off night!!
SCCA and NASA are talking about dropping drift events because the noobie drifters cant keep their cars on the track and are tearing up the edges of the tracks, and road race guys HATE drifters for that one simple reason.
My white Talon is also going up for sale as soon as I get it dialed in 2.3 smogged the whole bit

I just want to be able to go on a drive and not have to watch my rear view mirror every 3 seconds and dart into a parking lot every time a cop gets within a 1/4 mile of my rear bumper

My eclipse would have been sold last year if I were still in CA. I drove around Sac and the northern towns all last weekend while I was visiting and actually threw up a bit in my mouth haha. Up here I see a riced out POS like once a week, down there once every block! I see semi-modded rice burners a couple times a day, down there EVERY Honda is semi modded. Clean, fast imports are so few here that I don't feel trendy by owning one.

I'm glad you're not giving up cars all together bro, that would be a waste! Even though it's not a DSM, keep us updated with tons of pics. I know anything you build will be worthy.

are you going to buy the chevelle AND the nova?

personally, i wouldn't want to deface an all original car so i would go with the nova since its already been gone through by other owners. i can't wait to see what you end up doing with whichever car you choose to get. how about a mopar?

If it were up to me, and I wanted to increase the overall value of the car, I would restore it.

That way, whenever you wanted to sell it, you would get more from it, rather then if you modified it.

Since you like making cars fast/er, I'm sure restoring it is out of the question.

    Good choices.

I'm planning on restoring that 61 Chevrolet Apache. LMC Truck catalog just came in the mail today

I've got a '73 Laguna Station Wagon (well, I gave it to my dad a couple years ago, but it sits and awaits someone to buy it)

I know, I know, it's a wagon... but it's an all original 73k mile wagon with complete maintainence records, AND the Laguna was built on the chevelle platform (same as the nova, el camino, malibu, and a ton of other chevy's) which means the suspension is all the same, the motor is an immaculate original 350 that runs better than most new cars I've seen lately, and it has factory a/c which blows colder than the a/c in my neon (which is pretty cold too)

I've never got under it to check the rear end, but would wager that due to it's weight (being a wagon) it *might* have a 12 bolt.

my dad's asking $2,500 for it, but would probably be open to negotiation (he likes trading)

Just a thought, if you need a good source for parts, or whatever.

Methinks MOPAR are better go-fast cars though, but they're getting espensive... if you want something already started, pop's got a '70 challenger with a built 383 already caged, but he wants like $15k for it, and I think he needs to just give it to me minus motor so that I can put a 2.3 stroker in it and drive it as my daily driver :-p

both would be badass, but if youre looking to mod, id take the one thats already been devirginized over the all-original.

and by white talon, is that the car that my buddy Mark sold to you cause it had shot main bearings or something? i might be interested, as im getting sick of the Stang and knowing anything i do to it is $4k+ and i would still be smoked by cars with less invested.

Yea its the car I bought from Mark,

The Nova is a semi modified car, still an orginal SS but its not cut up, and rust free

Mopars are WAYYY out of my price range

although 15k for a 70 challanger is a good deal
