    Default Aluminum Welding

Who knows how to do it, and who's willing to do my intercooler pipes for me... OR where should I take 'em to get 'em welded?

because aluminum is lighter? I got them off ebay, and figured aluminum wouldn't hurt... after all that's what the intercooler's made of... was no real specific reason, actually, can't think of any stainless pipe kits on ebay anyway... everything I found was aluminum... they're all 3" and mandrel bent. *shrugs* if I can't get 'em welded, I'll just have to get better couplers and flare the ends...

    I can weld em'

Muffler shops with take a MIG welder to anything you bring them and that = booger welds on stainless

I can TIG em up nice,

Just pre fit them and mark the joints with a sharpie and make sure there are VERY SMALL gaps or none at all is even better
oh and if it is coated or anything I won't even touch it

Awesome. I'll work on getting them all flat and even, eliminate any gaps and marked up next week (going to be going to LA for my girlfriend's graduation this week, so no time for the car this week) I'll call you once they're all ready to be welded. As far as the coating.... I don't *think* there's anything on them, but they might be clearcoated, they ARE polished. Once they're welded I had planned on painting them matte black anyway, so I'll go ahead and take a piece of sandpaper to the last inch or so on each end of the pipes just to be sure there's nothing there. Anything else I need to do? Thanks a ton!

Oh, also, would you mind if I brought down some of the scrap pieces also, and try tigging some of the scraps myself, just to learn how to? If you can't let me use the welder (IE, M&S owns the welder, liability and such) I definately understand. Thanks again.

Dont use sand paper, the silicone carbide contaminates the metal,

I would just use a file and clean stainless steel wire brush

Its my own personal welder, at my house. I don't like to move it much it weighs almost 1000lbs

But I can let you give it a rip
