Well this has always been a rule of mine just because I don't want to see someone run it into the ground,
Anyways about 5 or 6 years ago I had a 1979 Ford Courier pick up truck with a SOHC 2.3l 4 cyl and a 5 speed trans
I got the truck for free from the original owner, it was white, pretty clean save for a bench seat.
Well I drove the truck as a work beater for a year or so untill it developed a broken piston skirt. Wanting to go with a injected V8 originally, I stumbled across a 2.3l Turbo Thunderbird engine and droped that in, almost the same power wayyy less work and the trans bolted right up!! Two year go by and I have a new fullsize diesel monster so I decide to sell the little truck to a friend for $1500, not bad for a high 13 second truck that got 23mpg!!
Well he gets it impounded in the first week for speeding, it sits in impound for 30 days and he pays another $1500 to get it out. I go with him to pick it up (I was still the registered owner) I see it with a nice fresh black primer paint job and white flames up front..... "Dude you wasted a clean factory white paint job for that???!!" thats why you got stopped you A$$!!
So he drives the truck for a year and the last memorial day we go up camping for the weekend and the truck breaks down on him right at a little gas station in Maxwell (BFE) So we pay the owner $100 to let it sit untill next weekend when I can come up there to pick it up with the trailer. So my piece of crap friend does not want to give me some money to go pick it up. So I say who cares its your truck let it get impounded.
This last weekend we go to the same spot my roomate gets up there a day before me to smag a good spot, he calls me up at work.....THE DAMN TRUCK IS STILL HERE!!!!. so I load up the trailer and pick it up, and continue to drink no less than 4 cases of PBR over two days just to fend off the headache!
I get the truck back home and find the starter is wasted and the all the cam lobes are ground flat!! nice!!!
Looks like he had been push starting the truck for a month! and never changing the oil!!
DOHHH!!! the best part is......I still have the title!! HAHAHA
So I am putting another engine in it this weekend and its going up for sale again!!
