    Default minor setbacks suck

Just venting a little here... don't mind me...

First I had a problem with the clutch not disengaging/engaging properly. so i drop the tranny and replace the bent pivot ball and put in a new fork and TO bearing because the old one was toast also. while i have all that down, i take off the oil pan and replace the fluids all around.

go to start it up and it cranks but won't turn over. try it again... *click.click* i figure it's power related. swap batteries with Miah's optima red top. car starts right up. my red top is dead and it's brand new!!

let it warm up and check for leaks. no leaks. go to drive, car dies and has no power. tighten the connections on the battery and it's good to go. drive around, car starts smoking. oil is dripping from the oil pan. great... the gasket maker (Ultra Black) is hanging out of the sides of the pan.

so now i have to drop the x-fer case and oil pan again... this sucks.

I actually found a oil pan gasket made by Victor Reinz for my 1g 6 bolt engine. Back in 2002, I through in a JDM Cyclone 4g63 6 bolt engine into my white 1gB AWD. I started to use Fully Synthetic oil in that car right after. I had a really really small oil leak which is not even noticeable. I decided to look for a oil pan gasket for peace of mind. Let me go to my garage and get you the part number.....

    Victor Reinz Gaskets
    Part no: 0S32008

I know the factory manual calls for just silicone, but for extra piece of mind, I think this gasket is great.
This gasket is for a 6 bolt 4g63, i dont know how different the 7 bolt oil pan bolt pattern is.

I wish you the best on this man, hopefully you'll be back on the street in no time.
    BIG PLANS.....STAY TUNED.....

IF the pan rails and block are clean the silicone will NEVER leak

I have never had one leak, but on the other hand every motor I have ever taken appart that had a pan gasket was leaking like crazy.

i'll be pulling the x-fer case and pan when i get back from camping. i'll give it a thicker coat of Ultra Black and make sure it seals all the way around.

oh by the way, i solved my clutch issue. it's a SUPER he-man clutch now. i'm back to standing on the clutch to push it down. and it's VERY consistent with no change in pedal pressure at all.
gave the spindles some more moly and put some on the fingers of the pressure plate after i cleaned it all up. shifts VERY smooth now. only issue is i have to adjust the clutch to give it some play on the top. i can feel it slip slightly when releasing the clutch because of the lack of play at the top.
