This whole crackdown is rapidly making me lose respect for law enforcement......

I was pulled over a few weeks ago for "Illegally modified exhaust" and missing front plate..

after talking with me a bit he wrote me up for the front plate and told me to remove my exhaust and return it back to stock.. I told him my exhaust was perfectly legal.. and he said " ANY exhaust modifications are illegal"
I stated that it passed smog and was pretty quiet so it was legal.. he again stated that i needed to remove it a little louder this time.. Finally i just said yah fine.. and he let me go..

Okay, I'm going to walk a thin line and not bash cops and get into it with Shane....hehehe. Just because a law enforcement official says something is illegal doesn't mean it is. I've fought this stuff and won. What you do is, if he says "pop your hood" say, "are you giving me an order to pop my hood?" if he says yes, do it. Anything he finds will be thrown out in court for an illegal search and seizure. You are complying against your will but not resisting. I've gone through this and dealt with the DA and he said it was all unwarranted search procedure and I got off with less than a warning. To add to this, I was speeding 80 on 50 east passing sunrise. I of course had to pay the speed violation, but the witch hunt was unwarranted. *time to walk that thin line* anyone who watches movies has heard the whole good cop bad cop routine. Have seen cops lie in front of the two sided mirror. Don't believe everything you hear, and as long as you know what your true rights (what is put into force by your goverment officials) and not what a few fringe overzealous officers, things will turn out the best. That being said......DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT invite them to search under your hood. Make them demand to look. DO NOT debate with them the legalities, it goes nowhere. Fight your battles in court, bring the law code with you, talk to the DA and walk out the door without shredding your car at the state ref.

Hope this didn't offend you, Shane. Cops serve a purpose, street racing is dangerous, and I wouldn't want anyone to get hurt. I think their hearts are for the most part in the right place. But the way they try to achieve their goal of safer streets is unethical, illegal *dancing on the line* and of course fueled by the masons......*thought to be a fool at this point* well its good for a laugh.

yeah my cousin is headed to the police academy in a week or so. but being one of those people repeatedly pulled over for useless vehicle violations, he has sworn to me and our family/friends that he will go after actual offenders and crackheads to clean up the streets, not make more revenue for this shithole state.

Took the words right outta my mouth. I got a BS ticket last wednesday morning. in my high school parking lot. for going 50. the fastest i went that morning was 40. here's the 'brief.':: (all backed up by my bro who will be a witness in court for me, he watched it all from beginning to end from the lot)..::

driving down dewey from winding way to del campo high 40mph highest, speed limit is 35. there's a chp officer standing next to his car next to the house between will rogers and the nearby street (his position is about equal with DC's parking lot entryway). About the time he sees/hears me, i'm in the suicide lane turning into the lot, so im going no more than 25. I'm all the way by the speed bumps (half way over 'em actually) when he pulls up behind me, no lights or siren. As im going over, he tells me to pull over with the microphone, and doesnt turn on his lights until im parked. Here's our conversation in order: "Good morning sir. Your car sounds a bit loud, have you modified the exhaust?" "Yes, I have, but I've got proof that it's legal." So i show him the exemption engravings. "Can you please pop your hood sir." I pop it. "It looks like you've made many modifications to your engine. Can you prove that all of them are legal?" I show him all of my exemption stickers, engravings, etc. "Can you please get back in your vehicle sir. License and registration please. It LOOKS like you were going about 50, this is a 35 mph zone." And wrote me up. How is that for a profiling son of a b!tch.

So saturday i bought a radar detector. the Escort Solo S2. f*ckin pigs.

its that whole state revenue thing. if they dont get you for one thing, they're sure as hell not going to leave empty handed. i argued my way out of poppin my hood, so the cop told me the "real" reason he pulled me over was because i "blew through that stop sign." admittedly it was a rolling stop, but cmon, this is california.
