Default ? for old Dirty! halfshafts!!!!!!

90 GSX still running a 3 bolt LSD..

I need CV shafts badly.. 3 of the 4 are clicking when I shift into 1st after rolling back..
and now my drivers side front is toast.. Inner end failed badly.

Do you guys have them at MS and how much?

is it ok to install used cv shafts or are new ones preferred?

I'm in the same boat on my white 1g awd.....the right halfshaft boot is ripped apart....I might either re-pack the boot and buy a new boot, or buy a used cv shaft.

    sorry to highjack Ben

no prob.. the preferred repair would be to replace the thing if the ends were bad.. or replace the ends..
if the boot is just torn you can carefully take it apart and clean and repack it then pop on a new boot..

In my case the inner and outer ends are shot on the drivers side front completely.. Im pricing out options.. i can buy a reman shaft for like 65 bux.. pretty damned cheap.. or new for 105.. or From raxels for 145.. or fidanzas for 215..

Im just looking for low cost to get me on the road for now.. I just bought the old lady a new washer and drier yesterday... AND im buying a new laptop in a coupla weeks.. AND im getting tires.. AND today i ordered the ingalls rear control arms .. SO im sick of spending alot of money right now :)

I am not sure, but I think the shafts are the same for each side. I don't know if that makes a difference, but if they are in fact interchangeable this may broaden your options on what parts you will be able to use.

I may have some parts for you.... I don't know if I have a 3bolt or 4 bolt rear in the gsx I got, but it's a 90... so it could be either (the motor wasn't stock, and the tranny was switchable, so it's quite possible they're 4 bolt rears)

Anyone wanna tell me how to ID 3 bolt vs. 4 bolt, and then I'll know for sure.

I figured as much, but didn't know if the bolts were inside, outside, on each axle or what :p
