Default Car insurence and stereo equipment?

What are your experiences with stereo equiptment being ripped off and filling claims with car insurence companys?

Just had my Pioneer deck, 1000w amp, CDs... and get this shit, my wife left one of her platinum rings in the center console... stolen out of my Silverado. Have you guys ever been reembersed for aftermarket stereo stuff? I'm thinkin they won't because I never gave them information on it... but they never asked so I don't know.

Its ALOT more to include stereo equipment, but if its just in there I dont think they will reimburse you, maybe if you had a really good insurance company, but when my talon was totaled I tried to give them reciepts for the paint job, rims, 6 bolt swap, exhaust, clutch, ect... stuff that was on the car that they would be taking because it was totaled, it all equaled about 4k (minus the paint) they gave me an extra $200. :x

As far as I know they wont cover the full cost of that kind of stuff unless you elect to add on insurance for exactly that purpose. I cant remember what its called. Progresive is one company that will let you purchase additional coverage for custom items, such as rims, stereo's etc. Dont think it would have covered the ring tho =)

Sorry to hear Lee.....The amount of lazy and jealous people in this world just amazes me. Rings like that are covered in seperate policies....i.e home owners or rental insurance if you contacted them and had the ring appraised. Best of luck buddy!

Thanks guys. Yeah it was a terrible weekend topped off by finding all of the stuff stolen... I keep wishing I would have caught them in the act with my 12 gauge in hand... could have introduced them to a 1oz slug
