Default Where can I have my head rebuilt?

Just a question. I havent had a chance to pull off all my valves/ springs but I'm pretty sure that even if they wernt messed up, I'd want them replaced.

So basically I'll need new valves and seals. It'd be nice to redo the whole thing, but to send in my head and STILL have to pay about 350-400 for a head that will come complete even though I dont need the cams just doesn't sit well with me right now.

I'm trying to do this rebuild the best way possible... Redoing the entire timing set up instead of just the belt and getting a new metal gasket and arp studs for the head. But I wont be able to do the entire head route. I saw a couple prices that were decent. I figured I'd sell my head then go an buy a refurb one but I coldn't find one that didnt have a heavy non-core charge.

So in short... Anyone know a place that does simple head rebuilds?

I can tell you a place not to bring it. haha. That would be Sac Cylinder Heads (took like 3 months to finish Miah's head and yea... look where that ended up...)
And I doubt you want to drive to Suisun City to get it done at CSM (takes about 2 weeks or so, but quality work.)

those are the only 2 places i know of.

How much would something like what I want cost? In the end would it be better for me to jsut get a refurb one or should I go ahead and get a valve job done?

Valve jobs cant cost more than $150-200... I hope :P

I can tell you don't go to Marysville Machine Shop if you live near there. They fawked up my head job then told me it was my fault. A couple months later they finally re did the work but the attitude of the owner was unheard of.

My 1G head was done by Sac Cylinder head I think. Not so sure about them, my guide seals may be going out already.

There's a place in El Dorado Hills called comptech machine. I think I paid like $500 for my heads when I did my 304 (v8, 2 heads), but that included all new valves, guides, seats and seals (was going larger)

They do like indy cars and schitt... very good work... don't know how long their turn time is anymore.

don't let the fact that they specialize in honduhs bother you, they're still very precise in their work.

Dude, CSM is WAY more expensive than that.

$225 for stock VJ, $45 for hot tank, $45 for pressure check (which was stupid to do anyway).

    Fuck CSM.

Oh, or I took my Tercel head to Riebes Machine on Auburn Blvd, dropped it off, took them a day to send it to their shop in auburn, and then was back the day after that... so 3 days turn time, and cost me $85. But all I had them do was mill the head flat... (was replacing a blown headgasket)

Hmmm, seems like I might as well get a refurb. By the sounds of it. If you paid $300 then that is around what it will cost (minus shipping) to get a fully redone head. Guess Ill have to bite my tongue and do it anyways... Damn.
