Over the weekend, Miah and I went to the Pick n' Pull to rummage through the remains of any DSM's we could find. 2 1.8L Eclipses with nothing of value, 1 2.0L Laser RS completely raided, 1 beautiful blue 1993 Talon TSi AWD with perfect interior and body minus the usual carvings into the paint from PnP idiot customers, and a perfect condition chassis from a black 1993 Eclipse 1.8L.
Well, Miah remembers that he needs a small coolant overflow bottle since he's running the SBR FMIC. Me, still being bent on trying to use my stock one and failing later in the day, kept looking for the metal clip for the oil pressure sender unit.
We come across several Ford Festivas, and popped the hood on each, perfect condition motors (probably not since the body didn't look wrecked), and we noticed one thing... All of the coolant bottles were gone. So, we look some more and finally find one and the coolant bottle is a perfect size to fit into a DSM.
I continue my search for more DSM's to see if they have the clip I need and come across this girl who was wrenching away at this 88 Honda Accord. Me being me, I asked what she was doing. She was trying to get the alternator out.
Here's a little background on the design of the 88 Honda Accord... It's a disaster, that's all you need to know. Besides that, the alternator is in the back and requires taking out the axle. Neither of us have the tools to do that.
So after trying to take off the throttle body and the intake manifold with no luck, i take the axle from another vehicle and just start going to town on the thing by lodging it between the intake manifold and the frame and pulling super hard and breaking everything in the way. After about an hour or more of this, we finally get it out. (I'm leaving out the part about how it was her friend's Birthday and she was there in her "Sunday best" trying to help and complaining that she wanted to get drunk.)
Miah goes and checks out some of the Galants with the 4g6 style motor, and grabs two oil pressure sender units. Perfect clips on them, so I'm happy.
We get home, and it turns out that the coolant bottle fits perfectly on the front on the radiator support area without having to extend the lines either.
So the moral of the story is, drink gatorade before going to Pick N Pull if you were drinking alcohol the day before... Or something like that.
