    Default w00t... take that theif!!!

    my hotmail acct was brute forced... they used it to get my paypal acct... now here is the fun stuff... they went online bought "gold" for WoW... (world of warcraft, pay to play online game) changed the pass on my email didnt change the security Q... luckily it was a closed bank acct i had on file with paypal...

    paypal ran the charges on through... all $1400... on that closed bank acct...

    now for the fun stuff... they deleted the emails but didnt purge it...
    so i have their phone #...
    the company who they bought from has his IP addy...
    the company sent a reply with their WoW name... i have a friend who works for blizzard and they gave me the info (it was from the bank i worked at and the # matched) and froze his acct...
    now for the best part...

    i reported it all to ic3.gov
    now facing charges for identity theft/ hacking / defrauding a financial institution w00t a long list of other stuff =D
    WTF! That Grand Am was boostin?

    Great job on the catch! Keep us updated on your situation. Wonder how he was able to get into your hotmail account? One of my friends hacked into his ex-gf's yahoo account and started e-mailing people and talking shit about her, pretended to be her on yahoo messenger, took the tires he bought for her off her bike, etc. He scares me sometimes...he's like a borderline stalker/psycho guy. Anyways, I hope that thief gets what he deserves!

    i thought hotmail had any brute force measures? such as attempting a wrong password so many times will result in a temporary lockout of the account?

    smeh thats what i thought too... but i only log on at home... not on wireless so packet sniffer is out of the Q... i have the latest mcaffee and the ZA firewall so i know its not (b.o.)... my router has a seperate firewall built in and the only progs that can access the net is firefox, i dont even use aim anymore =T and havent played CS in awhile ...

    thats what the cops told meh but we all know cops ;)

    i just got my money "refunded" today through paypal w00t...
