Good news! Installing aftermarket camshafts does not effect your emissions at all and is perfectly legal! That's what I learned from an employee at Kragens today! yay!

which do you think of when you hear aftermarket...
You are correct! :D
well usually if you talk 2 someone at kragens or autozone most of the people that go there for "aftermarket" parts, they are reffering a cheaper alternative to dealership parts.
Good point, they think of aftermarket as Bosch or Denso (if that company didn't make the factory part) and refer to performance parts as... performance parts. Stock replacement parts that aren't made by the factory are aftermarket afterall.Originally Posted by Robert GST
Of course what Shane left out is a rice boy was asking the question so I'm guessing he was asking about performance parts.

well if you can pass on the tail pipe with them the smog tech won't care but they are not leagal to have in your motor other wise when my dad was looking at cams for his mustang they won't have "steet legal" cams beacuse the would all be.

lol! hahah Those are on sale!!! he was talking to this other kid who was simply retarded when it came to cars. The kid was looking for a catalytic converter because "I made my exhaust kinda a little bigger". Then he asked if he could install aftermarket performance camshafts in his car legally. Employee said "yeah! of course! I have never heard of any camshafts being illegal where you can't smog the car"
